HI all,

Waiting for my PR while on TRV. I was wondering if i could go ahead and start the process of requesting PCC from RCMP now. It calls for a letter from VO indicating the need for PCC from Canada. I do not have one now. I figured the process might take some time its better to get a head start on things. Any advice?.

Many Thanks!!

Hi ,
RCMP Criminal Record Check A.K.A PCC doesn't require a letter from VO to get it . you can simply go to an accredited agency they'll take your fingerprints and send it to the RCMP . if you ave a record with the police or overstayed or deported , PCC may take up to 120 days . it's better to have it ready now in case they ask for it .chances are they won't ask you for it if you are an inland applicant .

why are you assuming you need an RCMP report? this is not required for sponsors or applicants. it's only needed upon request by CIC, and a majority of applicants do not receive this request. i don't recommend spending the effort or money on one if it hasn't been requested yet. if you get it now, you risk having it expire before it's requested (if it ever is).

Thank you. Yes, Hope I wouldn't need it. According to the GCMS notes, CIC should have my file updated next week. In the event of a delay, i've to go for an extension end of this month etc. Figured it takes time to get RCMP PCC i thought i could stay ahead of the waiting game at least by having the necessary paperwork ready to go. This whole application process has made me a nervous wreck, tbh. But, It is good to wait until after i get the letter from VO and go for digital prints.

I wish I assumed I needed it , it could have saved 4 months of my processing time , it's better to assume you need it and have it ready then assume you don't need it and waste 3 to 4 months of waiting .
who care if you lose $120 if they don't request it .

You overstayed and were deported. That is a VERY different situation; advising OP to get one based on your experience is bad advice.

bad advise ? wow!!! how did you figure that Bro? if I don't advise him based on my experience how else can I or you give a good advice ? are you an immigration expert ?
assuring the OP that he won't need it is a BAD advise Bro , you don't know if it will be requested or not .

I advised the OP in my previous message , which you didn't bother to read that he may or may not need it .

You can give good advice by actually researching what you are posting about. If OP had been deported like you, then your experience would be relevant. However, OP hasn't been deported, so telling them it's better to assume they need it is bad advice.

Read my post. I didn't assure OP that they wouldn't need an RCMP check. I simply pointed out the differences in your situations.

The vast majority of people don't need one, so unless a person has violated the law in Canada (such as overstaying and being deported), there is no need to get one unless actually requested.

Not all people that overstayed or were deported need an RCMP PCC , we know there is no need to get one unless its requested , we wanted to avoid the waiting time and have stuff ready to send as soon as they request it .

actually you are advising him not to assume a PCC may not be requested is a very Bad advise and a suggestion to waste time .

Now you need to stop telling me what kind of advise I want to give . If my stuff is not appealing to you move along .

P.S : Canadian Citizen. Not Overstayed Not Deported

I will never just move along when I see bad advice being given.

OK, you didn't overstay, your spouse did...
