RCMP Criminal Record Check?

As a sponser, do I have to summit by own CRC from the RCMP or do they do that on their own? The reason I am wondering is because I am not living in Canada (in South Korea) and I have no idea how I would go about getting a CRC when I am not in the country (I believe it requires fingerprints being sent through the mail and heard it taked forever). My wife has lived in Canada for more than 6 months, but I believe she does not have to summit one because imigration will do it themselves, I am hoping the same goes for the sponser. Does anyone know?

No, sponsors don't have to supply criminal records checks.

You don't submit it as a sponsor.

I thought Canada was the only country that she didn't have to send one in for that she lived more than six months in, because immigration does their own check with the RCMP.. Am I wrong?

Yes you are right. Your wife will send hers from Korea. (On the top I wrote Canada by mistake and now corrected).

Here is the rule:

Police certificates

You have to provide:

a valid police certificate, or
police clearance, or
record of no information.

These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

Hi,

Can anybody tell me the Process of RCMP check. I know that it takes 3 days if done electronically for RCMP to issue clearance letter.

But after we receive clearance letter from them, we send it to cic. Now question is Do cic just check the clearance letter or they do some other check with RCMP after receiving that letter which consumes time.

Any experience or knowledge on this thing?

any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

We had to get an RCMP check done. The request for it came with the PPR request email. The electronic prints were done and sent to the RCMP. We then had to wait close to 3 weeks to get the letter back from the RCMP. It came in the regular mail from Ottawa. We then had to turn around and send it back to CIC in Ottawa by regular mail. COPR arrived within a month.

It is so good to hear (read!) this!
My Application for RCMP was sent on July 2nd from Ottawa Commissionaires (I've sent my ink prints to them to be digitalized and sent electronically), and I haven't heard anything from them yet. But it is good to hear that it actually takes some time to be ready.
Hopefully after it, I get PPR!

And really hopefully, the strike ends within a week!

My husband sponsors me. We sent electronic fingerprints with all documents on 1 February 2012. I spent 1 year and 2 months in Canada. Also I sent a document for no-conviction from my country. Vienna sent me a RCMP document for fingerprints. I redid the fingerprints in my country on 19th April 2012 and Vienna received on 23rd April 2012. I still haven't heard nothing from Vienna. That is more then 3 months

Just wondering if you could clarify something for me. When you say Ottawa Comissionaires converted your ink prints to electronic, were the ink prints down in Canada or another country?
We are being proactive and obtaining an RCMP clearance as my husband lived here for 4 years. We didn't do his prints before he left Canada, however we recently submitted ink prints to the RCMP but will take 4-5 months to get results.
Was wondering if I had my husband do another set of ink prints in his home country, send them to me and I could take them to this place so I get the police clearance quicker. Can you tell me the rough estimate of cost if this is possible for our situation.

Thank you!!

My husband and I thought to do the same thing. I'm in my country and Vienna asked to redo the fingerprints. Vienna sent me the form. We contacted the MP if we could make the ink fingerprints, sent to Canadian agency to make in electronic form and then send to RCMP. MP told us that that is not possible. Later my husband found out that it's not possible but I'm not sure where. 14 weeks have passed from Vienna got my fingerprints.

Hey there.

I did my ink prints down in Brazil, sent them to Ottawa Commissionaires.
Here's the information of the woman, who has been super nice, who takes care of the conversion of the fingerprints:
For fingerprints conversion ink to digital:

Carolin Henry
ID Services Technician
Commissionaires Ottawa
(613) 231-6462 ext. 451
www.commissionaires-ottawa.on.ca
email address - chenry@commissionaires-ottawa.on.ca

I've sent her an email, and she replied with attached forms.
From what I remember, it'll cost CAN$200 + mailing fees. I'm not sure if you can just go there and deliver the prints, but again, send her an email or call her. I'm sure she'll be happy to help you.
I believe mine it's taking a little longer since I had an arrest in 2008. She was saying that even if it was withdrawn and there was no conviction, it still takes a little longer.
Anyone with the same case?

Well, good luck to us.
