Don't need to submit upfront, but since you've been living in Canada for over 6 months, they could chose to request it or not.
In my case they did request me for it too.
Some people don't get this request. Hard to know if they will or not.
Nothing special about your case, nothing to worry at all. If anything good sign your application is moving forward.
