Hello,
As noted on my previous questions about RCMP fingerprint check, I received an email from the immigration officer to have an RCMP fingerprint check. I have never lived in Canada for more than 6 months, and when I emailed Buffalo to inquire about the reason, their response is basically, "Just do it." I have done some research, and it seems like the reason I have to do the RCMP fingerprint check is because I have a common name. I just planned a trip to go to Montreal this weekend to get the fingerprinting done there.
However, today, I just received a letter in the mail saying that they have waived my interview and that the only other supporting document that I may need is a certified criminal record check for myself if I have lived in Canada for more than 6 months. (which as stated earlier I didn't) So now, I am confused.
1. Is the Certified Criminal Record Check (which in the letter it seems to imply that it is also a Police Certificate) the same thing as the RCMP Fingerprinting check?
2. If they are the same thing, do I still need to go to Montreal to get it done? (If I don't have to get the RCMP fingerprintcheck, I will have to cancel my hotel reservation by tomorrow to avoid penalty, that's why I can't wait for the response from Buffalo.)
Thank you all for your input and advise in advance.
