RCMP check based on Name

Hello friends,

I applied for PR in march 2014 and it went well till RPRF. Got medicals in Set end and RPRF in Oct end. and by mid Nov, I was asked to get RCMP check done based on Name. I got this done from local police station and sent it to CIC in Dec first week.
CIC asked me to submit RCMP check based on fingerprint in last year May.

My question is,

Have you come across such a request from CIC? I mean RCMP check based on "Name"?
If yes, what did you do? did you get through?

Security checks are done in many ways and include many organizations.
Security check based on fingerprints usually pulls records from RCMP database only. Security check based on name would mean it would involve check against databases of several organizations like RCMP, CBSA, Local Police & sometimes could also international organizations like interpol to which canadian authorities have access to. This type of check would typically take longer as well.

Not sure why you have been asked to do a RCMP check based on name. May be it's something to do with your name.

1) Name-Based Checks - A query based on name and date of birth of the RCMP National
Repository of Criminal Records. Generally used to determine the possible existence of a criminal
record. “Incomplete” query results will prompt for a Fingerprint-Based Criminal Record Check.

2) Fingerprint-Based Checks - A fingerprint-based search of the RCMP National Repository of
Criminal Records. The results of the search may produce a Certified Criminal Record Check
product.


Above definition will answer your Query.

Finger print based in more advanced and accurate
CIC asked for me finger based in may 2014

I don't believe Name based will take much time compare to Finger based

RCMP check based on Name took 10 min at York Police station. It is a letter stating that their database does 'not have any' or 'have any' match to the Name.

This is a bit strange, if they indeed asked you for an RCMP name based check, since CIC automatically does a name-based RCMP check for all applicants. (Also since you did the fingerprint-based check last year). Just a guess, but perhaps they had a reason to need an update to previous checks.

I guess so, I was expecting PPR. But got this RCMP check request. I guess there is something they are unclear about (my name ). I don't have a last name. Hopefully CIC is happy with what I have sent and I am waiting for PPR!
