Wait does that mean, they actually stopped processing applications in progress? No wonder it takes so long to get an update, I'm already 7 months in since AOR and counting.

They actually did pause working on FSW-O applications and they did inform us in a much nicer way.

Nobody knows so it's just speculation. Without FSW is kind of difficult to fill the quota so it is reasonable to assume FSW will resume in the future. This does not mean it's going to be easy to get ITAs. The bar could be a lot higher than before and it is also possible they give more points to inland applicants.
They have announced that only CEC is being processed at full capacity. Based on most FSW applicants' progress they have basically stopped processing FSW applications (Ottawa is the worst, other offices might be a little better).
The average processing time was 9 months in 2019. It's not done that fast. They stopped working in March and brought back some capacity in June last year. Most FSW in 2020 were not touched by an officer at all.

IRCC said it was finalizing most of the Canadian Experience Class applications they received between May 24 and May 30, 2020, meaning decision-makers are working on applications that they received about 10 months ago.
May be they will start working on FSW 2020 very soon because all the FSW draw was held after July-2020 only

They still have ~42,000 CEC applications from this year they can process to meet their immigration quota. Processing FSW will not make sense till borders reopen. End of summer this year seems like a good estimate. Alberta is already claiming they'll be covid/restriction free by september, which is good news if they can meet that goal!

Not processing them makes no sense. After a year of working from home they should be able to process all type of applications. it’s ridiculous that such an excuse is used for so long.
No one can claim to be COVID free by September. US can vaccinate most people by May and it’s mot going to be COVID free. We are going to live with the virus for a long time and the best we can do is to get it under control.

It's not about the ability to process outland applications, it's about delaying it while travel restrictions are in place to avoid spending time with extending CoPRs etc down the line.
Yes we will live with the virus for a long time, but what they mean is that they will have vaccinated every willing adult by then, and restrictions can start to be lifted. It will be several years before covid is eradicated (if it ever is), but given enough immunity, the R0 will be low enough for entire communities not to be at risk.
It’s about capacity though. Putting all resources on CEC and processing time is still 9-10 months on average. FSW processing will be slow when they decide to resume and getting copr will take a long time. I am not asking them to issue copr but not touching the files for a year is not good for any fsw applicants.
I see many CEC everyday in facebook saying that they got CoPR, some of them even have AOR from only 3 months ago.
While all eyes are on Canada’s vaccination progress, I can’t help but wonder if eventually they would allow COPR/visa holders who’ve taken an approved vaccine to enter Canada, probably once they meet their vaccination target by end of June. What do you guys think?
