Do we have any details on processing times? I think many future CEC people would rather wait to be eligible for EE instead of "risking" their futures with uncertain processing times.

No idea. All I can guess is these applications will be prioritised over outland applications already in the pipeline. That much is clear. If you are close to satisfying CEC requirements, it's definitely a safer bet to apply through CEC than a newly introduced temporary stream which has a end date/cap.

IRCC this is crazy. Are we dumb enuf to pay taxes and not getting invited after having enuf score in EE ? We are FSW inland applicants. Don't put us in DILEMMA to choose between countries to immigrate. We contributed alot to the Canadian economy for years. Now you are just putting us aside who are already paying taxes and not impacted with travel restrictions. Do consider us!

CEC has inland and outland applicants just like FSW. I don't know what's going on with IRCC but this is crazy. Also, international student stream applications will probably run out within hours just like Ontario PNP.
Both are risky so I guess people will hold onto whatever is available. 40k compared to the number of graduates every year does not seem to be high.

There's nothing particularly crazy about it. They are continuing their stance on prioritizing inland (potential) applicants since it is much easier to convert them to PRs without having to navigate travel restrictions. They have already been doing this for a while with their focus on inland CEC and FSW applicants.

They have bene hinting at this for months. Whether you think it is fair, is another matter entirely.

Am Currently at CRS 471.
If i work hard enough, i can push it to 474. But that will require one or two more IELTS attempts .

Have one full year to receive an ITA..or else my age will reduce 5 points off my chest.
I went through this tread....The news today killed the little optimism i had about FSW..:P

Looks like it is the right time to plan my life for an alternative reality without Canada.

I studied and worked in Canada for 10 years since I turned 18. I paid nearly 150K tuition, don't even mention those stupid taxes.
Just because my work experience was in 2015 I'm then not qualified for CEC. Now I don't have a work permit, only staying in Canada with a visitor visa and expecting a FSW draw.
But this crazy IRCC never considered us.

Will this be eating into the quota meant for express entry? which i assume is 120000 invites?

out of which, nearly 50000 have already been dispensed in the last four months?

or they will have a separate quota all together..and the express entry remaining ITAs are intact?
I was about to ask this question. I think this is a new program and they will not include these 90k from express entry

People seem to be mixing up the announcements. There are 3 new streams based on the public policies announced today.

They mainly focus on the following groups:
  • temporary workers in health care (20,000)
  • international students who graduated from a Canadian educational institution (40,000) - public policy here
  • temporary workers in other selected essential occupations (30,000) - public policy here
The eligibility requirements for each are different. They all come into effect on May 6, 2021 and will end on November 5, 2021 or once the intake cap of the applicable stream has been reached.

@ EscoBlades and others:
Please apart from the second group which are for International student graduates (cap of 40,000) are the other groups (cap of 20,000 and cap of 30,000) not the same people who would have still been or be in the CEC pool?
(ie If their NOCs were as mentioned in the Public Policy Annex)

This situation force us to reconsider our plans for staying here in Canada.

Suddenly my prediction for when all program draws will commence looks a lot more probable.

Isn't that a coincidence?

Canada immigration office just don't wanna invite any outland applicants this year!!!! don't say it will be easier for them to do that, they just don't care about outland applicants!!!! so many people waiting and every one knows the processing speed will be definitely slow, but why they still don't wanna invite outlanders? those outland applicants who will be invited this year won't affect their measures about virus control at all!!! because, most likely all the people invited this year will get their documents processed and completed by next year!!!!

Not sure if the new stream will be faster than CEC. The requirements look simpler than CEC so I am guessing the process will be faster.
I will reach 1 year of Noc B exp. in June but the new program starts in May. Any suggestions ? I am qualified for both. CEC (478 CRS)

I do understand the situation. It is not easy for them to held a draw for outland FSW applicants. I do think that the FSW inland applicants should be considered this time because they are not impacted by travel restrictions and contributing to Canadian economy already. Why don't IRCC comes up with a temporary policy for FSW inland applicants? They can differentiate between inland and outland FSW applicants in a second if they really wish to do so. They should understand the situation arised for FSW inland applicants(the hardship they are facing) and hear our voice too. I am disappointed by the temporary policies that they are making without considering real factors.

Peace!!
