dont come here, you wont be able to afford a house anywhere in GTA. lots of foreign/black money is causing massive bidding wars.
And very average homes too. Most sellers have inherited their homes. Some others bought them really cheap 20yrs ago. The immigrants end up buying these overpriced homes. Banks are happy to provide mortgages(some with a free iPad)

Immigration is a business: the banks, the lawyers, real estate agents, businesses, builders, car dealers- all of them benefit but the average Joe.

As a matter of fact, most of the homes are being purchased by nouveau immigrants- I did it myself in April last year when the market corrected for a brief period of time. It now appreciated above 40% and I’d call it timing and God’s grace. It’s also an awesome time to be a renter as it’s a renter’s market out there.

Has to be the mortgage backed new immigrants.

If it has appreciated above 40%, may be it's time to sell. You might have heard about this 'huge housing bubble'. Talk of timing, wow !!

And you landed in 2018 too.

Good for you. Not all get internal company transfers, really. I know some CGI alumni who did.

Well, I don’t have that much money to get a detached now as prices are through the roof. Becoming a realtor now part-time as a side hustle to save commission costs :)

This is sadly true. Rather than investing on infrastructure and other meaningful long term projects, govt uses immigration to make quick bucks every year.

It looks like the restriction will go on almost till ending of the year. The vaccination rate is very low. Canada lacks capacity to mass produce vaccines, and other countries that produce are putting their nations first. They are yet vaccinate up to 2m people out 38m population.
Vaccination rate is getting better. Yesterday they`ve done 98K shots. When it is 200K per day - it is game over for coronavirus!

So, I hope that Canada is about to understand that it is OK to give ITAs for FSW, because 2022 is going to be corona-free in Canada

That’s a good news. I also hope they can procure more vaccines.

It only means 'they don't have to start the process all over again'. Minister of Public safety and also the health ministry decides when to lift restrictions.

It was always known that once restrictions are lifted, a fresh visa or extension was all that was needed. Not news really.

I have my COPR with me. This is all I need to know. Actually no one has confirmed this before. Even people with copr approved before 18 Mar 2020 are not allowed to travel if their copr has expired.
I am still in a good job, so I am fine to earn a few extra bucks before moving to Canada.

The current immigration minister always drags his feet, and is not reassuring at all. He took a very long time to provide any Covid immigration relief to existing expats in the country.

It took a lot of peaceful demonstrations in front of his office. Even the media didn't want to pick it up initially. Only later there were a few articles, and finally some relief end of Jan. But for international $tudent$, they were very fast in terms of changing existing regulations: one can study outside the country and still get a work permit.

It was always frustrating getting answers from his office: always evasive and defensive. Typical politician.

He can take all the time he needs. The more the travel restrictions are in place, the longer I can work outside of Canada without worrying about the PR stay obligation.
I’m curious. Are you a PR yet?

No. I got an ITA in 2018, had to decline it for health reasons.(wish we had 90 days to work on it vs 60 at that time).

At least they didn’t do what Australian govt did - ask all international students to leave the country. International students (or any temporary visa holders) never got any financial assistance, not to mention the ban to enter Australia imposed on all temporary visa holders.
I heard Canadian govt actually provided financial assistance to international students. Cannot imagine something like this happening in Australia.

You know that in this thread there are many FSW waiting anxiously for the travel restrictions to be lifted so they can get an ITA?
If you didn't want to go to Canada in the first place and prefer to work in your own country, why did you went through all the troubles of getting a PR then?
