I have a question about the NOC and appreciate any help/recommendations. I work for investment bank front office and deal with origination of debt and stock. I submitted my EE profile a year ago and chose the NOC 1112 (financial and investment analyst). I am a CFA and I have MBA degree so I did not think too much before picked NOC 1112.
However now re-reading the job duties of NOC 1114 (other financial officers), one of the main duties "Financial underwriters underwrite new issues of stocks and bonds, negotiate with corporations and governments to determine the type and terms of new securities issued and prepare offering prospectuses" seems really fit my current role.
On the other side, there were a few discussions about the NOC 1112 & 1114 on this forum, and people say NOC 1114 is more for back office, which does make sense when you look at keyword as controller, investigator etc. And if I land in Canada, I am definitely gonna look for jobs that match more like NOC 1112, such as pension fund portfolio manager, investment banking analyst etc.

Its really confusing cuz part of NOC 1112 fits what I do while that bullet in NOC 1114 really fits me as well. I can tweak the job duties to match more like NOC 1112 without mentioning the word "underwriter".

I see Ontario has the tradition of picking PNP with NOC 1114. Would you guys recommend me to change to NOC 1114 to be elected sooner?
If I get elected, am I required to look for jobs only classify under NOC 1114 (such as finance controller, underwriter etc.)?

Thank you so much.

The majority of your job's responsibilities have to match the majority of the responsibilities listed under the NOC for you to get recognition for work experience by the immigration officer. You have to choose the correct NOC code, which accurately reflects your work experience. Having one responsibility from a different NOC doesn't make that one applicable. It's about which NOC closest matches your list of overall role responsibilities.

I am becoming more desperate hearing your expectation of foreseeing PNP goign forward rather than the general draw. My NOC is 1112 and there is just very little chance that this occupation will be picked by Ontario (by looking at the historical PNP occupations). Any recommendation for me to change the strategy? Thank you!
We all have to face the fact that FSW draws may not resume this year, Canada worked so hard to flatten the curve, they just wont throw away all the hard work by inviting people from all around the world. Only few things may change this, a vaccine/very strict social guidelines/virus weakens and pose no immediate threat like common cold.

Surely drawing FSWs who will take like 8/9 months to even be ready to come to Canada, then screening them before they get on a plane at their home airport, then screening them again at the Canadian airport, and then forcing them to quarantine for 14 days in Canada... surely that's a decent plan. It's not like if I get an ITA now in a general draw, I'm suddenly gonna unleash COVID upon all the Canadians.

The world needs to keep turning. Economies keep going, people keep leaving Canada, etc. I'd be very surprised if they know they need skilled FSW candidates and don't offer them a chance in draws.

Although no one except IRCC can tell exactly when the general draws will resume, I really hope this is not the case.
If Canada plans to close their border until the end of the year, many people will be affected: students, businessmen, work permit holders,... FSW people will always be the last to arrive because of the application process.

Unfortunately, with the extension of CERB it seems Canada isn’t ready to keep workers working and people are now raising concern about workers returning to work.
The whole idea is that Canada is taking the Covid response strategy to a whole new level which the inlanders seems is the best and everyone is happy but this has affected immigrants so badly.

we just have to pray for a miracle because the body language isn’t encouraging

Just take the example of US-Canada borders, they are in agreement to extend border closures on a monthly basis. Now the borders are closed till end of July and I am sure it will extend after that as cases in the US keeps rising. This is with their neighbor country and imagine what Canada would do with candidates from countries like India.

I dont think they will take the process duration into account while taking a decision, like many people mentioned in other threads there are candidates with all required documentation ready and to be submitted.

But even in that case, it will still take 6 months (or longer, if there is a backlog). It's hardly going to be approved in a matter of weeks.
