Ok let me tell you about a friend of mine, he had obtained a post graduate certificate from a UK university. His certificate was evaluated as post graduate diploma (one semester)! Then he contacted wes and asked why didn't they evaluated his certificate equivalent to Canadian 1 year long certificate. In reply wes said - wes compares all credentials with Canadian full time credentials and according to the resources available to them his UK university certificate is delivered as part time basis thus they converted it as one semester long full time diploma !! however WES also said if his university confirms in writing that his PG certificate was a full time year long course then they will reassess his credential. after that he requested his university to send WES confirming that it was indeed a full time year long course not a part time course. That worked and he got a new ECA stating post graduate diploma (one year)!
You can try this. I am sure WES used their own resources which could be out dated but if you can manage your university to send a letter (fax it) explaining your engineering degree then you may get degree equivalency instead of diploma! first contact wes using their web platform and see what they reply.

Good Luck!

thanks for your reply. I will surely get in touch with WES. However, what do you think about the difference between diploma & Bachelors? All our courses were aligned with Bachelor degree so I wonder what is the reason for WES to do something like this. And, what do you think I should specifically ask WES to do in my case? thank you so much for your advice :)

Hi,

I am an India citizen staying in the Uk since last 4 years. I wish to apply for the India pcc from the Uk however I am not sure whether the India consulate/vfs will have my passport details in their records.
Is there a way to check?
Has anyone got it done recently and if yes, how much time does it take?
Can I travel to India and get my India pcc done (I think it takes just 2 day there) and travel back to Uk?
For UK PCC; does it stay valid if I travel out of UK and travel back in?

Urgent feedback is much appreciated.

Best regards.

All indian embassies/consulates have access to data of all indian passports issued (except for maybe the outdated 20 year validity passports), so you shouldn't have any problem.

If you are residing in UK, then usually the PSK in india will not issue the PCC as you are supposed to get it from the indian consulate assigned to your jurisdiction. Also it might be confusing for IRCC because they generally expect people residing outside india to get PCC from consulate/embasy.

Your UK PCC is valid for 6 months. Basically PCC for the country of residence is valid for 6 months. Since UK is your country of residence it is valid for 6 months regardless of your travel out of UK. However, your indian pcc must be dated after the day of your departure from India. This is also another reason for you to get your Indian PCC issued from UK, because if you get it while you are staying on a visit to India and the date issued is during your stay in India, it automatically becomes invalid because india is not your country of residence and your PCC date does not cover your latest stay in India.

Original ECA mentioned "post graduate diploma (one semester)", because wes thought it was delivered as part time 1 year course thus they converted it to half year Canadian full time diploma. you cannot use any certificate that is not minimum one year long. He was able to prove that it was a full time 1 year long course and wes agreed to recognize it as Canadian post graduate diploma (one year).

There are no differences between a diploma and a bachelors degree in terms of CRS points if it is minimum 3 years long. But you are not eligible for OINP (not sure about other PNPs) if you do not hold minimum a bachelors degree.

It is a practical example of how to write a complain letter (IELTS GT task 2). You should mention following points-

Explain what happened
Tell them why your are not satisfied
Request them what you want them to do (you should ask for a review and full detail of the decision)

Good Luck!

Experts please....
I am holding a PhD and teaching at a high school teaching A-levels and AP curriculum offered by US collegeboard. In my EE, I selected 4031 (secondary school teachers). But this category also required a 4 years Bachelors in education after my bachelors. Is it really required or it’s only a condition to work in Canadian public schools? Because here in my country, it’s not a condition with Ph.D or having Masters? Can I still use 4031?

And many more that escape my memory at the moment.

And my full timeline so far for those of you who don't know:

The Beginning

Early hours of November 9, 2016 - Decided to emigrate from the US and started researching possibilities. Later in the day, read news article about how an immigration to Canada site had crashed due to a flood of Americans trying to find out how to immigrate to Canada.

November 11, 2016 - Filled out free assessment form at canadavisa.com

November 12, 2016 - Received email from David Cohen that was my first introduction to Express Entry. However, Canada was not my first choice at that time, so I did not research Canada any further.

Late March 2017 - Decided to immigrate to Canada and started a job search. After getting CRS estimate of only 410, planned to get a job offer, hopefully by the summer, and move to Canada and then create EE profile.

Late May 2017 - Started getting depressed that I had only had initial phone interviews with 2 companies, and it had been at least a month since either had gotten back to me. Decided I needed to create EE profile now. Read instructions for creating EE profile and realized that I would need to take IELTS exam first.

June 6, 2017 - The next available IELTS exam date in New York is July 8? But I had seen a June 24 date a few days ago, and the site had said I had until June 19 to register! I hadn't thought so many people would be taking IELTS. Registered in fear that soon the July 8 date would no longer be available.

June 8, 2017 - Checked IELTS registration site and found that the June 24 date opened up! Jumped to grab it and cancelled my July 8 registration. Fortunately my credit card had not been charged for July 8 so no financial penalty.

June 24, 2017 - took IELTS exam.

June 26, 2017 - found out that I would need an ECA in addition to IELTS score even to create EE profile. Rushed to figure out which organization to use and submitted order to WES. Ordered transcript to be sent to WES.

July 5, 2017 - Very depressed after being rejected for a job I had really wanted with Company 3. Still waiting on Company 2, gave up hope on Company 1.

July 7, 2017 - Received IELTS results online.

July 10, 2017 - Received ECA from WES online in the morning. Immediately created EE profile. Received paper copy of IELTS results when I got home at night.

July 11, 2017 - Received NOI from Ontario. Started reading instructions and gathering documents. Oh no, Ontario wants me to have a passport that will be valid for another 2 years? Mine expires in 9 months, and I was hoping to hold off on renewing until after I moved to Canada.

July 13, 2017 - Sent passport in for expedited renewal (supposedly 2-3 weeks instead of the usual 6-8 weeks). Still collecting other documents.

July 15, 2017 - Received paper copy of ECA from WES in the mail.

OINP Drama

July 25: Missed OINP registration by 1 day!

December 19: Nominated
