Dissapointed by the 'important' news of today but I cant imagine that that the Graduate streams will take up all the 988 nominations that are left. So yes, I'll keep hoping

Will the PNP for masters and phds affect CRS cut-offs?
I guess there will be more 600+ candidates for next few months which will bump up the cut off. How much increase do you guys expect?

@Linobmw2000 i hope that too if so lets keep the hope up . @JinandMango for the current streams OINP takes around 30 to 60 days to process if im not mistaken,,these guys with the new scores might join the pool some where in dec '17...hhmm am i rite?

OINP just updated. They re-opened the Master and PHD streams. The HCP is still on hold :'(

I don't believe that the HCP stream will reopen this year. But the good news is that is just a couple more months for a new target so it'll be easier

Looks like you are going back to US once democrates go back to white house, It could happen in 3 years or 7, so why bother going to Canada? For most of us immigrating to another country is for life.

I can't speak for @trumprefugee, but to me the big issue is that the people who elected Trump are still (and I know this from experience with family) going to keep voting for whoever has an R next to their name (ie, Republicans), even if it's Trump again, another one like Trump, or more people in congress who keep trying to worsen our healthcare situation and not address other problems, like education funding. With gerrymandering, Republicans have an unfair advantage in congressional elections so they're likely to maintain control even if the president is a Democrat. Even if the next administration, both the president and congress, swings back towards Democrats and they do some universal health care system, just like with the ACA the next conservative administration will try to tear away again. Given the chance to go somewhere where the uncertainty over health care isn't there, I'm taking it, especially since I have a daughter who I don't want worrying about her insurance situation and limiting life choices because of it like my family has had to (more on that here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-im...of-hope-73rd-draw.518652/page-63#post-6394087).

That was quick. One of the OINP streams has closed within a couple of hours. It seems that they only had a few slots left in their quota. Which also suggests why they did not open the HCP stream ( since there are too many applicants in HCP and would have closed in seconds). I hate to say this but it seems that 2017 is done as far OINP is concerned.
Time to revert our attention to 2018 target announcement by CIC and hope for the best.

Hi guys here is my situation.......My partner has just completed his LLB and is awaiting acceptance to the bar in our home country as such we decided that its best for him to qualify here (locally) as a practicing Attorney (18 months bar program) and then join us in Canada (assuming that I am able to get the PR by June 2018 God's willing). Assuming the transition from one commonwealth to another should be easier and more cost effective.....though we anticipate he may very well have to do the bar in any province we decide to setlle.

The issue is I have is I have not quite reach the settlement fund requirement in my personal account and I now have 1 of two options pending OINP NOI or ITA directly from the pool:

1) My partner could transfer the difference 6,000k CAD from his account to mine, however, I would not satisfy the 6month rule if OINP reopens anytime soon. We decided its best we show enough funds to support the entire family (5 including my partner) even though he joins at a later date.

2) I could wait until the end of October as I am anticipating a lumpsum at the end of October pay cycle that should cover the shortfall. What support should I present to OINP/CIC (If it reopens before I get direct ITA) to confirm that this is legitimately mine?

No, actually I have many other personal reasons for moving permanently to Canada. The election of Trump is a symptom of some very deep issues in the US that have been going on for a while and that might never be resolved. I do hope to do some activism from across the border once I become Canadian. One major issue I have been having with the US is the lack of universal, affordable healthcare. Although the election of Trump gave me the idea of emigrating from the US, I have since come to realize that I can much better pursue my life goals in Canada than in the US.

Which of the two options is the safest?

Regarding option 1, you don't need to hold the funds you're claiming for settlement for 6 months; IRCC just wants a 6-month history so they can check for any suspicious deposits that could be, for example, you trying to pass the proceeds of a loan off as unencumbered funds for settlement (which we're not allowed to do). In other words, as long as you adequately explain and provide proof of where the funds are coming from, you can get the funds the day before you submit your application and be fine - it doesn't have to be in your account for 6 months.

So, if you want to transfer money from your partner's account, just have him sign an affidavit declaring the money to be yours, free and clear to use for settlement purposes (I don't think you have to go as far as getting a Gift Deed since it's your partner/spouse), and show the bank statements and any other documentation that outline the transfer.

If you decide to go with route 2, though, you would need to provide evidence of where the lump sum is coming from...perhaps a pay slip for that month (if it's a bonus or something)...

Whichever option you choose, you're going to have to provide evidence of where the large deposit came from.

Only 394 nominations were issued between September 11 and October 10, compared to 1006 between August 8 and September 11, or 13.5862 nominations issued per day this between September 11 and October 10 versus 29.5882 per day between August 8 and September 11.

There will be only up to 300 Nova Scotia nominations this time around, and they take a few months to be issued, so we won't see the effects of this very small number until early next year.
