hello seniors ,

I am living and working in singapore since 2012 , It is very good country in the terms of facilities and security.
I am working as a software engineer with 5K salary every month. it is very difficult to meet the ends of u have a kid in singapore

Now my question is that can i choose canada over singapore to have a small family( me , my wife and one kid ) with a salary about 80K per year

Please and kindly tell me how much can i take home after my taxes . Can i have a better life(at least dinners on weekend & outing to BC from ontario) or i have to be very calculative.

I think Canada would be a great option for you. 80k salary is more than good. People survive getting min wage. So you're going have a much better life then them. and if both you and and your wife are going to be working, then you're set for your life time. You are going to love it here. Taxes are killer but you get good health care and stuff. Taxes varies by provinces. If you make 80K CAD you'll probably take home more than 65 k if you have a good accountant.lol

You're right though. It happens a lot in Canada. People actually get employed and then become pregnant just to get all the benefits. My gf actually got a 6 month contract job to cover for a lady who had been on maternity leave.

Exactly... I know a woman who did that and then came back to her position to get promoted and became a director in a high and prestigious level in the government.. GUESS WHAT... SHE BECAME pregnant again and took another maternity leave ..

I wish I could become pregnant  :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::D

Huge blow to my confidence since my provincial application was just deemed ineligible........My only alternative now is really a direct ita so I have no choice but to hang on to he Ray of Hope that cra scores will drop below or to 386.........****shrugs shoulder and walks away teary-eyed*****
Come on dear.... just think about the positive side...@386 you are still way ahead of many other aspirants who had been patiently waiting...just see if you can get ur score a booster with a bettered IELTS....
U will get ur ITA before it is too long...if you're walking back, just go book a date for IELTS and start working on it..:)

You've certainly got to do a bit more than wishing to get pregnant....even if you are of the blessed gender...:p...

ahahaha.. I wouldn't be surprised!! Life is way too easy here. Being very honest :P

I like the idea of creative accountants :)

I did find this calculator https://simpletax.ca/calculator that seems to back up what you were saying.

I'm also worried about the cost of living to be honest. I have seen what I can earn (hopefully) but just having a number doesn't really mean much without knowing the cost of living (house, power, water, car, internet, food) and the added costs of enjoying living (eating out, drinking, holidays etc)

It's probably my biggest worry about looking at moving to Canada right now
