Hie Pacificislander,

I got a rejection because I had indicated in my EE profile that I have a Professional Degree(Law). I thought it was correct because that is what we call it in our country. However in Canada they actually mean its a Masters degree, so upon verification they gave me a rejection saying I had not provided evidence of the professional degree..

i was devastated, but it taught me to be thorough and my points fell from 486 to 436. I had lost all hope, but here i am in the ray of hope thread. This time I will not make a mistake!!!
I don't know but "law" is listed as a professional degree. Check your WES report about what it says.

I hold a dental degree (dentistry) and my WES report says 4 years of professional study in dentistry. I'm confused now since I've listed mine as a professional degree and it CIC website indicates dentistry as a professional degree, along with law

Hi All...

For next draw i have done some brainstorming based on certain facts and figures. Most of you might already know this but i felt that it should again be written as it is the source for the ray of hopes thread...

It goes like this:

: 2017 quota for FSW is 71,700
: 2017 quota for PNP is 51,000 (Out of this around 35,000 will go through Express entry as some of PNP's have their own methods of selection and they don't depend on EE system, Beside, I am not taking Quebec in consideration as they have no links with EE).
.
Till date around 13,498 ITA have been issued, which leaves 58,202 ITA for next 20 draws. Therefore, every next draw must have around 2900+ invitations if EE want to exhaust its quota till year end.
.
Now come the 35,000 PNP ITA, each of which can be selected at higher CIC cut off as nomination from province fetch 600 points.
The reason that CIC is giving 3500+ ITA in last few draws is that they want to use their quota to maximum before considerable PNP comes into picture. Therefore, this trend will continue for next 4-6 draws or maybe more.
.
Also, we know that CIC has been processing considerable paper based applications in last year and therefore higher number of ITA's won't effect their efficiency.
.
Finally, I mean to say that downward trend of CIC cutoff will continue to at least 400. Issuing 58,202 more ITA's makes it mandatory for CIC to go up to 400 as the largest chunk of people are placed in 400- 450 slots.

Opinions and comments are welcome.....

What you geniuses keep failing to understand is that these "targets" are for approved applications - not invitations to apply or submitted application.

So if, say, 5000 applications from last year is approved this year for whatever category, that 5000 is part of this year's target as well.

Besides, each application can have spouse and 1 or more dependents associated with it. You have to take that into account too.

First you say that the quotas are for approved applications. Then you say there could be multiple applicants per application that would affect the quota. So which is it? You sound like quite the expert on this. ;)

Lol, is it so hard to understand? One doesn't contradict the other.

If an application with 1 applicant + 3 dependants get approved, that's 4 towards the quota.

Not an expert, just common sense. ;)

My point is that the quota is either 5,000 approved applications or 5,000 approved applicants, but not both. That's just common sense.

Right, I tried to keep it simple to get my point across. It will be way more than 5000 towards the quota.

But when you make calculations like the guy I quoted, you have to take into account the average # of persons per applications instead of assuming 1 application = 1 applicant.

Agreed, it's very challenging to predict number of ITAs based on approved applicant quotas and accounting for declined ITAs and rejected APRs. I don't think data on those numbers are available, are they?

When " X" is not known, it is better to calculate with whatever values u have.......
(X are dependents, rejections and so....)

Although 2016 FSW target was 58,400, however, only about 33,000 ITA were issued including PNP's.( Nobody can explain this situation, It seems CIC have a lot of backlog....)

I don't think we should be comparing how cic worked in 2016 with this year. There were lots of flaws and they were still busy clearing the pending backlogs of paper based application. Now tgat they have cleared it they should be well in line with what they have promised for 2017.
