@cali_ljz @ZAtoCD How did you guys get 480 scores? Did you max out your IELTS?
FSW candidates with 481 points and more without stepping a foot in Canada are in an entirely different league. These candidates are not older than 30 years, have a master's degree from a recognized institution, 3+ years of skilled work experience and max out on IELTS or CELPIP. In other words, they are the cream of the crop in their countries. It's a difficult feast to achieve. This is exactly why I think general draws should resume as soon as IRCC is able to do those draws.

My CRS was 498. FSW, Masters degree, 2 years foreign experience, IELTS band 8, TEF (french) C1 for everything except writting (B2), 26 years old.

Note that before TEF my score was 453, so french boosted my score from 453 to 498, a 45-point increase.
That's awesome. Yes, people who are good in English and French can achieve scores close to 500 comfortably. My comment was about candidates who don't know French.

It's not THAT difficult.
I'm over 30, I don't have a Master's, and I believe I'll be sitting at 508 around August/September.
Currently, I'm at 475 (but losing 5 points on June 6th, since it will be my birthday and I'll be 31).
Sure, I did maxed out IELTS, but besides that, there's nothing really spectacular on my profile: 30 yr, engineer with 3+ years and 2 diplomas. That's it.

The key is focusing in French. I already attempt TCF once, and got C1 for both Reading/Listening, but ZERO for the remaining skills. I'm studying really hard to get a B2 on Speaking/Writing at the end of the summer.
Pretty much anyone can touch the highs 490 or even 500, if they have a strong focus on the language tests. At the end, this is what Canada values the most, at all.

It's definitely not a difficult feast for those who have no problems doing well in French and English language tests. In my opinion, 480 is the mark that differentiates between those who have a strong profile with just one language VS people with good scores in both language tests. 500 is definitely achievable for those who have both foreign work experience and Canadian work experience. In my case, if I were to stay back in Canada and work for one more year, my score will increase to 493 from 479 (I already got my ITA in April) but if I go back to my country and get one year of work experience there, my score would increase from 479 to 517. This is without French. Since one can qualify for CEC with one year of work experience in the last 3 years, there's no need to show proof of funds! There are means to improve your CRS score if you are really dedicated to it.

Me too, with 480. I really hope they resume all programs soon.
Ok. I entered the pool in Feb but I messed up my WES as I mistakenly sent my old in-progress Master's transcript (in late November, 2019) instead of completed one. That took a lot of time and guess what? WES updated the status about my Master's degree on 4th March 2020 around 10am EST. After which my CRS is 472.

I missed the last general draw by hour(s). FML

I agree, an FSW who is monolingual (in terms of immigration) and and has zero Canadian credentials or experience, to get 480 and above is an achievement.

Those who are bilingual and have a good level in both English and French are rare relatively speaking, and can get a lot of points just off the language test points. Likewise, CEC candidates have access to a lot of points due to Canadian education and work experience.

That's why i think you have to respect FSW candidates with high scores, they're doing it more often without these additional points.

It's also why they should be allowed to compete in the subsequent rounds of invitation.

It doesn't seem fair to me that FSWs with scores in the 460s, 470s and 480s are missing out.

I did my bachelor in Canada and then came to the states. Worst decision ever lol. IELTS was 8.5 7.5 7 8
Don't worry, when the all-category draws are resumed, you will be picked. You are on the safe side, anyway.

We had similar experience. The only thing different was I sent my US Masters to CES at UofT. Took me 3month to get it, towards the end I lost patience and applied again at WES. Guess what, only took 10 days for WES to finish and both ended up came on the same day. LOL

Thanks bud! It's definitely worth it, considering the reward at the end.

As the forum member above said. :) I looked at all the things that could get me a maxed out CRS as an FSW candidate (other than learning French), and went for them. So, various aspects of my life were planned all around emigrating to Canada.
  • Entering the pool in my 20s (I'm turning 27 in August)
  • Getting IELTS of 9.0
  • Over 3 years of work experience in the same NOC category
  • Completing a WES-recognized Master's degree
And all that brings me to 481. Literally the only reason I haven't been drawn yet is because there are no FSW draws being conducted right now. I missed the March 4th draw by a week, because of WES delays. Been in the pool ever since. So, I'm really hoping that at least one general draw happens soon.

Same here mate. I was sitting at 471, already in the pool for the March 4 draw and oh my joy when I see the cutoff was of the same score. Quite unfortunate however missed the tie break rule by entering the pool two days late.

Still I was looking forward to the future draws and then this happens. Fate can be quite cruel for some people.

We just have to stay hopeful and resilient.

Yeah, I was hoping that May would be the month where general draws begin again, but now the pattern has continued. So, it's on to hoping June will be that month. Very frustrating.
