Correct. The rumors and negative opinions that people are spreading here are damaging. Someone might come into this thread and only read those comments, not the ones countering them with facts. Then they'd be more worried than they need to be. IRCC is conducting draws. Let's see what comes of tomorrow.
Yes let’s be positive and wait

I fear that there might be a specific draw tomorrow
People cleared in the previous draw were only CEC applicants, hope you grasp now?
The fact that there was a specific draw last time makes it more likely that there'll be a standard one tomorrow, if you go by the history. Last draw to include FSW candidates was on 4 March. But no one here knows for sure.

Yeah
That seems right logically but you know how people fear the unknown

Positive news! I just got a call from my clinic that IRCC has resumed upfront medicals.

This means they are going ahead with the draws like usual. As I indicated earlier, maybe they are trying to find ways to process all applications ASAP and stay close to the 6-month processing time.

French

You have the huge advantage of having portuguese as your native language. The similarities between French and Portuguese allows you to get a CLB7-8 (maybe even CLB9) in French in a matter of months. I did exactly that, had 469 for months, then I started studying french (only for the Reading and Listening modules), and in 10 weeks of intense study I was able to achieve a C1 in Both Reading and Listening, adding 6 points to my profile.
Another advantage: you're relatively close to Curitiba, where you can do the TCF Canada test.
I have recently started learning French in order to improve my CRS. I've been trying to figure out how many points you can get, especially considering that speaking and writing in any language are always the most dificult to tackle. Do you know if you get any points if you can achieve the minimum in Reading and Listening or if there is a minimum you need in each area for you to get additional points?

it is very scary. with tim hortons closed half the canadian populaton is out of employment. i went for a walk the other day and almost got mugged for a couple of dollars. prices are skyrocketing with a liter of milk costing 6$ when normally its 2$. eventually there will be large scale looting. its bad very bad.
Oh man, do you actually live in Canada? Listen, if your place is like that, come to Toronto area, everything is fine over here. Stores are full and no money problem as Canadian government started Emergency Benefits, GST benefit and extra help in child benefits. You said Tim hortons are closed, that's you know b******t. They are open here in Toronto. We still buy a coffee or smth else. Don't generalize your opinion, talk about a specific location, then we may check that area before even believing your words. Just one call I may easily know whether that store or coffee shop is closed or not.

Don't cry that much, otherwise you will end up dying from depression, and there's no cure for such sickness unless you calm down yourself.

Good luck in your imaginary life, hope we will not visit into your wonderland.

He is trolling. I live in Canada as well and as soon as I read the first line I knew his comment wasn't serious.

Though I think it could easily apply to NYC which is very close from us. I hope Canada will keep their borders closed from the US so that we don't get the disaster they have down there.

he is right though. situation is very dire and desperate. almost half the population lost jobs. there are foreclosures and people are getting kicked out on to the streets and living under highway ramps. there is not enough to eat. grocery stores are getting cleaned out. eventually they will take up to looting. its not a good time to immigrate.
This isn't true at all. Not sure why you are feeling the need to post garbage like this.

Houses are not in forclosure. All of the big banks are giving people mortgage breaks of up to six months due to COVID.

https://globalnews.ca/news/6694459/coronavirus-canada-big-banks-mortgage-payment-deferrals/

No one is being kicked out on the streets and having to live under highway ramps. Each province is undertaking its own measures to help renters:

https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/rent-relief-what-each-province-is-doing-to-help-residential-tenants-during-the-pandemic-1.4877615

I live in downtown Toronto. Everyone is helping each other right now - including strangers. People are picking up groceries for elderly people who they don't even know but who need assistance. People are lending each other things they need - again, all strangers. Yes, it's a difficult time, but it's bringing out a lot of good in people.
