What's the level of racism and discrimination in canada ,especially when it comes to jobs?
Immigration-wise, the major problems for foreigners are: not fully competent in Canada's official languages (an employer would be wary of hiring someone who cannot speak english/french fluently, specially if the job requires interaction with the public), or not familiar with Canadian culture/work values.
Now, the guy just above said,
She did say people will look at her funny because of her accent but of course, this is not preventing her from moving there. Is "looking funny" racism? I don't know. Hard to tell. I guess it depends on what happens afterwards. Is the "looking funny" followed by derrogatory remarks? Then yes. Is it followed by an interest in the person's origins? Then not.
It looks like Canadian dollar is falling against USD.
The Canadian dollar is historically weaker than the USD, in the past couple of years it got stronger, than weaker again. In the past few months, the USD has grown in strenght, as money flows back to the US due to the crisis. Mind you, a weaker currency is not necessarily bad.
I also learnt that the tax system in Canada is alarming, mostly help fund "socialism".
Yes, it's true, have you noticed how there's so much red in Canada's flag? The thing is, Canada's model is one that favors the government's intervention in several areas, most notably, health care and education. So, if you're looking for a country where the government has very little power over the market, Canada's not the place to go.
There are lots of Canadians on welfare. Could that be true?
Yes, it is true. There are lots of Canadians on welfare. But what does that mean? To begin with, what is "lots"?
