Hi experts,

Have an inquiry regarding Région Settlement region or Destination (Région d’établissement)

Is it advised/recommended to select a region/city or if i dont select any and declare that i dont have a preferred region within QC?
I dont intend to specify one so I can later decide and would be easier for me to move freely.

Thanks a lot!

Provide one. You are not bound to stay in that region. You can move anywhere.

If "Not-Specified" option is available in drop-down, then I do not see why Cant One opt such option & decide later.

(This is my rational behind my assumption)
What If, QSWP has internal criteria such as neglecting or stricter scrutiny for applications selecting "Montreal Region" cos such regions are already populated and Govt. would prefer immigrants to migrate to other low population regions.

Please SIR, share your rational behind your point of view for selecting a particular region ?

how is this even possible? the award NO points for this. if you get selected among the first 5000 applicants AND you have enough points, how can they scrutinize harder on you?

just select whatever you want, this question might just be for statistic purposes.

It would make sense to select an area outside Montreal. There were a program where Montreal had less points than other areas, I don't remember exactly which one though. Which makes sense since the government is more likely to push immigration to areas other than Montreal which is the first selected region in general by immigrants. So I suspect there may be some type of priority for immigrants applying to other regions. No hard proof though.

In any case, once you get the PR you can move to Montreal anyway regardless of the region you selected at the first place. :-)

Thats for Australian migration. They provide extra points who settle outside major cities. For QSW, I talked to them about this issue. They said it is only for survey purpose. No relation where you really stay in Quebec
