Hi Guys;
I’m sure the issue of health coverage were discussed quiet long at many threads, but I still require a clarification. My wife is pregnant and the due date is expected to be late December. We landed late June for two weeks before we returned back to UAE. I tried applying for the health cards, but unfortunately, we didn’t get a mailed bank statement. I did speak with the officer at service Ontario and she informed me that I can apply for health cards later as already there is three months waiting. They informed me that the three months starts from the landing date. My understanding that if we go there by October, and apply for the Health cards, we will immediately get the health cards and the delivery of my wife will be covered. Can any tell if my understanding is correct please? If not what prevent us from getting the health coverage if the three months already passed. Please advice.

Since you left so the waiting period is not from the date of your landing. It will start from date when you come back. There are chances that you will get covered if you return as soon as possible and apply for it. In case if your health card not received and your wife needs to see the Gynecologist then they will take around $ 6000 from you for covering all expenses of delivery. But in the mean time if you get the coverage then the deposit will be returned to you.

I will suggest you return back and give birth to baby here instead of UAE.

Hassanbukhari is correct. U will not get the OHIP imdt on your 2nd entry... u'd have to start the 90 days wait all over again. You have the following choices:

A. Go back imdtly... probably in a day or two from today... then u'd have the OHIP in Nov-2011.
B. Enter Alberta... there u get to be covered from the day of entering.

Thanks Qurax and hassanbukhari for your advice. The missing part which I’m still unable to get ; do OHIP or Service Ontario require any documents other than the three documents in the three lists. If we apply and present the three required documents, then we should be able to get it . am I right??? In another word, what is the part of the application process tells that the waiting time has to be from the date we go back no from the landing??? Please clarify.

one further point. Going back these days is not an option as i'm still waiting the PR cards which i haven't yet received.

In simple terms one could not get the health care coverage, if he don't have any permanent residence or lived in Ontario for three months. If you have permanent residence but still leave the Ontario for more than certain limit your converge is cancelled.

I will suggest you talk to embassy and get travailing documents and come back as you may face more problems for sponsoring new baby if you give him/her birth outside Canada.

1. If u [somehow] get the OHIP, w/out residing in Ontario - It is called "cheating".
2. In that case u may be required to 'pay-up' the Govt., if detected anytime.
3. They require your tenancy/lease contract copy.

It can take a week to a month - depending on case specifics.

Pls read about it here:

Thanks Qurax. one further question; does the application of Travel Documents cause any conflict with the procees of the PR Cards. we landed on 25th June , so we should expect our PR cards in the next few days. do you think there is a way to check about the status of our PR cards from UAE before i apply to Travel Documents and waste the time. please advice. please note that my the Online Applicatio Status still shows the old adress.

I landed on June 27th and my PR Card is not yet arrived. I call them few days ago and they told me that i will get them some date Mid of September.
