hey everyone,

I'm an international student and got my study visa from september 2013 to august 30, 2015.
Initially i came for a two year diploma course but after coming here i changed to a one year diploma course. I did one semester from september 2013 to december 2013. My second semester was to start in january 2014 but i dropped the semester and informed college authorities i will rejoin in may 2014 and then complete my 2nd semester. So i haven't been doing anything here since january 2014.

The problem is that I do not wish to continue my studies here anymore and wish to go back to India. I have a boyfriend who is canadian citizen and we will get married after 2 years from now. Till then i want to go back to my home country but people here advice me not to do this as it will be a problem for me when my husband sponsors me in future.. since i came on student visa, dropped a semester and did nothing and then just went back home. I want to know is this really possible that if i go back right now, it can have negative effect when i file PR after 2 years?? Please advice. Thank you in advance.

you are quiting on your own choice, you are not staying here overtime or anything like that. so there won't be any problem in sponsorship.

Thanks for your reply.

Also I wanted to know that if i stay in Canada for the duration of my study permit (that is till august 2015) without enrolling myself in any course and then go back before my study visa expires. Then can it be a problem in sponsorship?

Yes - it could be a problem. This may make it look like it's a marriage of convenience (not a genuine relationship) that was entered into primarily for the purpose of securing immigration. Also, CIC has said they are going to start cracking down on individuals who come to Canada on study permits and then drop out but don't leave.

Either stay in school or return home.

Okay. Thank you so much for your valuable advice. Hopefully the semester I've already dropped doesn't have a negative effect
