Hello, I am new this forum and would appreciate any guidance on my situation below.

I am currently working in Canada and have my PR application (CEC) under process. I am a September 2014 applicant and am still waiting for my MR. The employer that I currently work for filed my PR application last year and paid all expenses for lawyer and application fee etc.

I have an opportunity to study in the US starting next year. Therefore I am planning to quit my job before my PR application process is completed.

I have the following questions:

1) Is my PR application tied to my employer? In other words would CEC withdraw my application if quit my current job?

2) Would there be any effect on my application if I leave Canada?

2) Legally can my employer withdraw my application after I tell him that I am going to quit? In other words can he withdraw my application without my consent (I am planning to pay my employer back all expenses he has incurred for filing my application but if he refuses I would like to understand what my legal rights are)

I would really appreciate any guidance/feedback on my situation.

I don't know the answers to all your questions but I will try.

1. CEC PR applications are not tied to employer. You do not have to withdraw your application if you quit your current job. CEC PR application only cares about whether you have worked for at least 1 year before applying for PR.

2. You just have to update your address I believe.

3. Does you company lawyer have access to your application? If they don't, then you dont have to worry. Otherwise, I think someone else from here will need to advise you on how you can inform CIC about changing your representative.

1. No
2. No, just update your address in the application
3. No, but I'd remove them (or their lawyer) as representative just to be safe http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/representative.asp

1. No, your application only tied to your 12 months experience, if you have this your okay.
2. DO YOU MEAN LEAVE PERMENATLY OF TEMP? you can leave Canada anytime as long as you have a way to keep track with cic application (ex: any correspondence cic might send to your address you should be aware of this to avoid delay in your application) and have valid TRV visa.also Pr is for people staying and willing to reside in Canada, so make sure to double check if
3. not exactly sure about this one, so if they file the application for you did you committed anything to the company in return? what's in your contract? read between lines before taking any further steps. Also, I would advice you to take your contract to a lawyer and inquire about things ( sometimes its better to invest the $150 or $200 seeing a lawyer than regretting not doing it later down the road)
