I'm sure someone can easily help... I'm just putting together all the first forms for our application under self employment. I'm English born and bred... do I need to do an English test?

Have you read through the instructions on the CIC web site? All of this information is readily available.

Yes - you need to have your scores ready for the initial application. Only the General version of the test is accepted.

Sorry to ask... was just for clarification as it wasn't clear. I couldn't find that information for self employed and also for spouses.
