Ah, thank you.

As far as the police certificate... I can either send in my application a little earlier with some non-notarized letters and also risk leaving the country for 4 days right after I send it, OR I can send it at the last minute after I return to Canada with all notarized letters but risk my police certificate not being valid anymore. Risk either way, which one is worse?!

Oh goodness. Any more advice, anyone? It will be very much appreciated :-* haha ;D
The Police certificate needs to be received by CIC 3 months maximum after being issued. So sending it on the 26th is cutting it reaaaalllly close... in case it gets lost or misplaced for a day - I wouldn't advice it.

If you send your application, and leave the country right after, it's less of a risk - because it's unlikely that your application would already be in the immigration system. So maybe sending it BEFORE you go, with valid police certificate, and then going to the wedding just after that is the best option - but you have to be aware that you're taking a risk anyway. And I know it's coming close, but why don't you consider an outland application ? It would mean that you would have to work for the same employer for a bit longer until you get your PR, but you have a strong application, so there are no reasons why you would be refused - and then you could travel all you want... now, but also later on - do you really want to be "stuck" in Canada without being able to visit family for 14 months? for people that are not visa-exempt, they don't have much of a choice, but in your case, you do - I know it's a pain to fill all the forms etc, but it's feasible...

Anyway - good luck with your decision!

I understand peoples advice that you shouldn't leave Canada while your application is being processed however being from America and having a visa greatly reduces the risk, The only risk is if they don't let you back into Canada however I don't see any reason that they would.

I'm from New Zealand and I have applied inland. Over New Years we visited the states for a few day and had no trouble at the border, I even asked the Officers their advice about different options for leaving and reentering in the future. I was told that as long as I was not inadmissible there was no problem in reentering.

Thank you again everyone for all of your replies :)

sbea026, it seems like what I keep seeing is that IF there's some chance that you couldn't be admitted back into Canada, don't risk leaving and trying to come back in. I am a full-blown (temporary) resident of Alberta- AB health card, AB driver's license, SIN number, TRV until 2015, work permit (also until 2015), job, lease, phone bill etc. etc... I have no criminal record of any kind. There is absolutely no reason for them to refuse me at the border. This is my home.

I think what I'm going to do is send my package out right before I go to NY on the 21st. That gives me time to finish everything up (so much to do ??? ) and also time for the package to arrive at CIC before the certificate would be 3 months old.
