Hi there,

Hope you are doing well. I am planning to submit my parents visitor visa application in India. I am a PR holder living in Canada since 2013. They will be fully responsible for their financial support here. I have below questions -

  1. They have taken both doses of approved covid vaccines, I see the government will open the borders (travel exemptions starting Sept 7) and there is a thing called travel exemption. Is there anything (form or document) I need to submit for this with the application? It says upload your proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN but this needs to be done while planning for travel correct? Not when applying for visa?

  2. My father has been a stock market investor and they have fixed deposits. They have around $6K CAD in bank balance. I just want to confirm they can show FDs (around $20K) as a funds available since FDs can be withdrawer anytime, correct?

  3. How much duration should I show as an intended visit? They may stay here for around 5 months but what would be the ideal duration should I show?

  4. What should be the date of travel I should show? Can my application be expedited if I show travel dates earlier (end of year) compared to next April,2022?

  5. What length of visa duration they may receive?
  6. And what could be the visa start date in these scenarios? Visa start date is from the date they are approved or the intended travel date?

Thank you so much! Always appreciate help from this forum! Cheers!

1. You can also include proof of their vaccination with an approved vaccine in Canada as additional information in their supervisa information.
2. Yes they can show FD but fixed deposits are not viewed as savings. Don’t cash in any FD to show more accessible savings
3. Would suggest saying over 6 months so they are considered for a supervisa not TRV
4. It is always up to the VO but often 10 years when it comes to supervisas
5. visa start date is the day it gets issued. Entry date into Canada will start the 2 year stay under the supervisa.

Hi @canuck78

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated! Actually I am not eligible for supervisa so that is the reason they are applying for TRV. I am wondering if any of your above replies would change for TRV? Thank you!

Cheers!

Would suggest they ask for a short visit given they have limited savings and the fact that you don’t meet LICO. 3 weeks would be my suggestion. Do they have international travel history to countries like UK, US, Australia, etc? Do they own property? Length of TRV will depend on concerns about their profile. Shorter length would indicate concern about their profile. Would suggest a shorter stay of a few months maximum to build up credibility when it comes to respecting immigration rules of other countries. Trying to extend would not be suggested if they get a short visa. When they want travel is not a big deal. They can specify sometime next year.

Hi @canuck78

Thanks for your reply.

Yes we will show over $20K CAD in fixed deposits, over $100K CAD stocks holdings. They have also been to Dubai & Europe (have 2 Schengen stamps in expired passport copies of which I will submit in supporting docs). Yes we own a house but we wont show the papers in the application I guess.

Yes I am planning to show 4 weeks visit in April,2022. Do you think I can show earlier assuming they expedite the application?

Thank you so much!

Hello, i hope you are doing good. I am permanent resident since 2019 and I am planning to apply online for a visitor visato my parents ( father and mother). Should i create two different applicantions? Or you add a second family member in the same application? they’re not staying more than 6 months.
Thank you so much.
