Questions regarding US to CANADA Immigration

I met my girlfriend in the states, and now that she's 18, I'm wondering what steps need to occur in order for her to immigrate here. First of all, She was held back a year in high school, so I'm figuring not finishing high school makes the post secondary visa a non-option currently. There is so many options with different rules that I'm quite confused. The main thing that I don't understand is where I read the requirement of "1,460 days during the six years right before the date you applied" while to my knowledge, you can only stay in Canada for 6 months at a time or some such. Another concern I have is that she needs a lot of different medications, and while I could look into immigrating to the US, I may not find a job there to support her, and I'm wondering if its still possible to obtain medications whilst being an immigrant. Seemingly, the best option is to use the "Sponsor" method, but I'm confused how that process would follow. Would she come here, we get married in order to sponsor her? Or do I have to wait the 6 years before any of that can start.

sponsorship requires that you must have strong connection to this person by blood or marriage, boyfriend or girlfriend dont apply to pr application.

she can visit you here 6 months or apply for education visa.

so the process would follow, she visits for 6 months, in which sometime we would process through marriage, then I can apply for citizenship afterward.

No, she could visit, which would give the two of you time to decide whether you want to get married. If you do marry, you can apply to sponsor her for permanent residence in Canada. After living in Canada for several years as a PR, she could apply to become a Canadian citizen.

Thank you so very much, I had no idea it was in two stages like that. Permanent residence and Canadian Citizen being separate things. It will be close to another year before this plan takes place, but any other sources you may have or any other important information, I'd love to have it.

Best advice is to move over to the Family Sponsorship section of the forum and spend time reading through the threads there. You're posting in the wrong section of the forum right now. This section of the forum is for people who are applying for citizenship - your girlfriend isn't even a PR yet.
