i just got a letter from cic, "ready for visa letter"

it mentioned about RPRF and biodata, which i have already taken care of.
after that they were talking about passport request
i am from a visa exempt country and they even say that in the letter
then they are asking a copy of it anyway but i already sent a copy when i applied
is there a particular reason why they would ask for the copy again???

also i got the photo request as well
is this normal? i thought they didnt ask for extra photos any more since they changed to 6 photos

im not saying i will be skeptical and not send these. i will be doing these first thing in the morning tmrw
but im just curious because its different from what ive seen on the forum

Congratulations!
So I have heard of non-exempt ppl being requested to send another passport copy (and also those requested to send passport itself)
But I haven't heard about the photo thing - we're your med pics very different from your application pics? That's the only thing I can think of ::)

They usually request 2 photos, passport(for those who require visa to enter Canada) or passport copy(for those from visa-exempt countries) when they are ready to issue the visa. The only reason I can think of is they usually like photos not to be older than 6 months. Since the ones in your application are generally older than 6 months by the time you land, they request a new set, one of which is used for your PR card.

Sometimes, they ask for your height and eye color, which interesting enough is on the application form. lol

They will send you a COPR(confirmation of permanent residence), one of the photos and instructions on how to 'land'. Take all these with you, when you go to 'land'. Do NOT sign the COPR... it has to be done in the presence of an immigration officer.

Lastly, after signing the COPR(in officer's presence), he/she will give you a copy. Guard it with your life, as you will need it when you apply for citizenship and your pension.

Congratulations!

Keep it for life! That is what actually confers permanent resident status and you will need it should you God forbid, lose all your other documents. The permanent resident card just allows you to travel and re-enter Canada.

That was exactly what I had in mind! The PR card will do all the tricks!
Again, thank you very much!
