Hi
I have some questions regarding changing my visitor visa to study permit. I am currently in Canada and the only way for me to apply for study permit within Canada is to study prerequisite course, which leads me to the main course. I have some questions regarding that:
1-Do I have to have study permit to study prerequisite course? because according to a university I am contacting I have to have one. This contradicts what in IRCC website, which says that I do not need study permit for less than 6 month course!.
also a web page from Canadavisa.com here (https://www.canadavisa.com/pathway-programs.html)
2-Can I change my study permit in Canada if I can enroll in the main course ?
3-What is a possible way to apply for study permit in my case?
thank you very much

'People who don’t need a permit to study in Canada
also this tool (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/study-permit-tool.html)Most foreign nationals need a study permit to study in Canada. The cases below are exceptions.
Short-term studies (6 months or less)
You can study at any school in Canada without a study permit if:
If you’re taking prerequisite courses, you should get a study permit, even if the courses are less than 6 months long. If you don’t, you’ll have to apply for a study permit before you can start your full study program. Depending on processing times, you may not get it in time to start your studies.'
- your course or program lasts 6 months or less
- your studies aren’t part of a longer program and
- you’ll complete all your studies within the time we approved you to stay in Canada (usually 6 months after you enter)
