Questions Questions on PR application

Hi, I was just reading the different topics on this site, and it seems there are lots of people going through the same situation I am with my PR application and you have been able to answer some of there questions well. I want to explain my situation and see if you have any answers or suggestions.
My PR application has been in process since March 25, 2005 in Buffalo, NY according to the cic.gc.ca. website. I had to do the IELTS exam even though English was my first language, which I scored high points and sent in. I was working in Canada at the time I applied. After my work permit expired I decided to renew my student visa. I was going to school part time while I waited for a response from immigration. My student visa expires as of the end of this month and I am currently in the US under a visitors visa visiting family. My application is still in Buffalo in process.
Is there anyway I can contact/visit the Buffalo office to find out whats going on with my application? Would that jeopardize my spot on the queue?
My sister got her permanent residence in 2006 after I submitted my application, do you think I should inform them of my sister's new status? Would it make a difference?
If I have to return to Africa after my visit to the US, can I keep my application in Buffalo. I am scared that if I have my application sent to africa I might loose my spot on the queue and maybe have to wait more years to get my PR?
If I was to get the request to do the medical exams (second part) while I am visiting the US, would I be able to do them in the US or would have to return to Canada to do it?
I left Canada because I felt like I was tired of waiting and spending money on school when I already had a degree, are there other options I might have to return to Canada. Anything I can apply for while I am in the US?
Is it a good idea to contact/visit the Buffalo office, would they give me any answers?

Please answer these questions as best as you can. I am desperate and frustrated at the moment.

Thanks for the advise.

Is there anyway I can contact/visit the Buffalo office to find out whats going on with my application? Would that jeopardize my spot on the queue? you can check on the cic site for their contact info, it'd NOT jeopardize your spot
My sister got her permanent residence in 2006 after I submitted my application, do you think I should inform them of my sister's new status? Would it make a difference? It might help on the adaptability part
If I have to return to Africa after my visit to the US, can I keep my application in Buffalo. I am scared that if I have my application sent to africa I might loose my spot on the queue and maybe have to wait more years to get my PR? maybe, not sure
If I was to get the request to do the medical exams (second part) while I am visiting the US, would I be able to do them in the US or would have to return to Canada to do it? if you applied in Canada you most likely will have to do the exams here, or it might delay a lot your app
I left Canada because I felt like I was tired of waiting and spending money on school when I already had a degree, are there other options I might have to return to Canada. Anything I can apply for while I am in the US? you'd be amazed at how important a degree FROM Canada will be for your future here
Is it a good idea to contact/visit the Buffalo office, would they give me any answers? only if your app is super late they will answer

Thanks for your response. On the cic.gc.ca website its says 80% of cases are finnalizes in 30 months in Buffalo. My application has been in process for 29 months. I have not yet received the second part of the app (medical exams)...does that mean my app is super late or is this normal for Buffalo.

Thanks
