Hi Everyone - I recently received ITA and in process to prepare my documents for submission. Could someone please take a look at below questions and provide your thoughts?

Police Certificate

I am currently living in USA and am Indian citizen. Throughout my lifetime I have lived in 2 countries:

India (current citizen): The certificate I got form Indian Consulate Chicago was last year in April I.e. April 26th, 2019 and after that I never visited India. This document is now more than 6 months old but because I didn’t visit India after that, I think we can use this certificate? Please confirm.

Below is what the Canadian website says: “For any other country, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you stayed there for 6 months or more in a row.

USA (current resident): I am currently living in the USA. I got the Police certificate from FBI few days back and is black and white. IRCC website says PCC must be colored but it's an auto generated certificate that I downloaded from the FBI website after submitting by fingerprints and is black and white. I sent an email to FBI and they confirmed that they don't provide colored copy. Since it’s an auto generated document from the government of USA website, is it okay if it's not colored? I am not sure what I can do if US government doesn't provide a colored copy. I can also attached my email communication with FBI customer service team while submitting ITA.

Hello,
I am an Indian citizen in the US too. I had my initial check and medicals passed so maybe this is of assistance to you:
1. For Indian PCC: Get a new one. PCC should be within 6 months of you eAOR date.
2. For US PCC: Original FBI PDF is good, no need to worry about colored PCC or attaching any communications.

Hi thanks for responding, for Indian PCC, as I mentioned I didn't visit India since 2018 and the PCC I got was in 2019. Below is what Canadian website says:

For any other country
For any other country, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you stayed there for 6 months or more in a row.

Some countries put expiry dates on their police certificates. If you have a police certificate that expired, include it. We’ll accept it if:

  • it was issued after the last time you stayed there for 6 months or more in a row
  • it is not for the country where you currently live

Since my Indian PCC was issued AFTER I stayed in India, I think I can use it, what do you think?

Hmm good point. I am not a lawyer so cant help you out with the intricacies, all I can say is PCC is pretty quick at all consulates so it will be safer just to get a new one.

I’m 99% sure that your current PCC should be ok as you didn’t visit India since it was issued. But you can wait for a couple more responses to be sure.
