Hi all,

I've been preparing my CEC application package by looking through the posts and it's been very helpful. Thanks to all!

I'm posting this since I still have some confusions on how to fill out correct information on some of the required forms.

The questions are broken down to each forms..

If any of you can answer some or all of my questions, that would be really helpful!.. :D

[Generic Application Form (IMM 0008)]
1. Application Details - For the box 4, is it okay to write just "CPP-O" or should I write full name "Case Processing..."?
2. Personal Details
- For the box 10 (current country of residence), I don't know what to write for "From" and "To".. I've extended my PGWP 3 times because of my passport. So, my most recent PGWP is valid from 2013-08-26 to 2014-06-15. So, for "From" date, should I put 2013-08-26? or, the first date of entry to Canada, which is 2003-08-21?
- For "To" date, I saw some of you put the expiry date of current work permit, and some of you put "Present" by handwriting. Which one should I put for this?..

[Schedule A Background/Declaration (IMM 5669)]
1. Personal history - I started to work in full-time with the off-campus work permit and acquired PGWP in the following month, and I've been working at the same company. Then, in "Status in country" column, should I put two separate rows for my full-time work? one as the off-campus work permit holder, and the other one as PGWP holder? Or, Is it okay to put just one row and write "Worker" in the status column?

[Schedule 8: Economic Classes (IMM 0008 Schedule 8)]
1. Your Work Experiences in Canada
- Within the 3 years, I worked for 4 months as a co-op (as Software Developer) before I graduated. Do I have to put that experience in this section?
2. For the question "Were you a full-time student during any...", do I have to check "Yes" and give details for the period when I worked as a co-op? I wasn't enrolled in any courses since I was in co-op term, but it was before my graduation..

[Supplementary Information - Your Travels (IMM 5562)]
1. Travel History - I saw some of you said only to put the travels other than the trips from Canada to the country of citizenship. But, I also saw some posts saying that I need to include even the travels from Canada to the country of citizenship..which one is correct?

[Documents List]
1. Passport and Work Permit - I extended (acquired new) passport and so my work permit in June, 2013, so both are valid from June 2013. But, I started to work (with PGWP) in March, 2012. Then, do I need to include my previous passports and work permits? The documents list says to include only most recent ones..but the most recent ones don't cover one year of full-time experience..

Please advise me on the above questions..

Thank you in advance!

[Generic Application Form (IMM 0008)]
1. Application Details - For the box 4, is it okay to write just "CPP-O" or should I write full name "Case Processing..."?

CPP-O is fine.

In the 'from' field put the date of your last entry to Canada. And 'to' put the date when you apply or leave blank.

- For "To" date, I saw some of you put the expiry date of current work permit, and some of you put "Present" by handwriting. Which one should I put for this?..

See above. Or expiry date of your work permit, doesn't really matter.

Worker should be fine, as that's your current status.

[Schedule 8: Economic Classes (IMM 0008 Schedule 8)]
1. Your Work Experiences in Canada
- Within the 3 years, I worked for 4 months as a co-op (as Software Developer) before I graduated. Do I have to put that experience in this section?

No. Only in the background declaration form, as this experience ( for what I know ) can't be counted towards CEC experience.

2. For the question "Were you a full-time student during any...", do I have to check "Yes" and give details for the period when I worked as a co-op? I wasn't enrolled in any courses since I was in co-op term, but it was before my graduation..

You can check 'no' if you weren't full-time student for the duration of the 12 months of full-time experience you claim for CEC.

I did not put travels to my country of citizenship on that list, as it asks for travels outside the country of residence or origin. So I only put travels to other countries in the list.

Your reference letter will be proof for the full-time experience, not your passport or work permit. It's only proof
that you have been working with a valid visa. If I were you, I would write a short letter explaining the istuation and
submit the letter along with your application.

Please advise me on the above questions..

Thank you in advance!

Hope that helps.

Thanks iam_toby!

You answered me all the questions! I really appreciate your help.

I didn't know that the co-op experience doesn't need to go in the Schedule 8 since they never specify that..It's really good to know.

I have one other question which is related to my reference letter. My boss wrote me a reference letter by including all the required information that is listed in the document checklist. But, for the responsibilities and duties, he wrote:

"000's responsibility in this role is to write, modify and integrate computer code based on technical specifications for the development of software that are provided to him. In addition, 000 is also responsible for testing computer code. In this role, 000 reports directly to me."

I'm not sure if this is good enough for the reference letter. He included all other information (hours, salary, start date, etc.), but I saw some posts saying that the letter should describe the responsibilities and duties in very detail..

Just so you know, my NOC is 2174 and the job title is "Software Developer".

Many thanks,,

Yeah you really need more detail I'm afraid - this is super important as the visa officer looks at your duties in comparison to the duties in the NOC

Second that. All your duties should be mentioned in your letter, but not copied from HRSDC website.
Have your HR or supervisor person write as detailed as possible or you come up with a draft and have
them sign it, that's what I did.

Addition: Make sure to mention EACH AND EVERY job on schedule a form tho. This form has to contain
every job and every last bit of information about you.

When you said this, did you mean that I should include my co-op experience on the Schedule 8 form? or, did you mean that I need to put all responsibilities in the reference letter into the Schedule 8 form?

There's two different forms 'Schedule 8 ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm0008_8e.pdf )' and 'Schedule A ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5669E.pdf )'
Include every job in Schedule A and only the skilled once you want to be counted towards CEC experience in Schedule 8.

Thank you for the replies. As you said, I put all experiences in Schedule A.

I just have one other question on reference letter,..

For describing responsibilities and duties, would the below points be satisfied by CIC?

-Participating in developing new software to the firm by writing, modifying and integrating computer code based on technical specifications.
-Maintaining and enhancing the software by responding to requirements on new feature implementations and error fixes.
-Preparing and conducting test plans for each release of code updates.
-Resolving technical issues through debugging, research and investigation.
-Participating in documenting functional specifications of the developed software.

Please advise..

Thank you

Thank you very much..

One more confusion for "From" date of Current country of residence..
You told me to put the last entry to Canada. But, my last entry to Canada was 2013-06-16. Should I still write 2013-06-16 for "From" date?

I remember when I applied for PGWP extension, I filled out the similar (or same) form. And I put "Valid From" date of the permit I was holding at the moment. That was why I thought I should do the same for this application.. but I saw many people putting the first entry date to Canada.. so I'm very confused..

I just don't want to get refused because of minor mistake.

They won't refuse you because of that, as they have access to your UCI and can check when you have
been issued work permits etc.
But to make sure, put the date in you originally entered Canada and stayed continuously.

So, you mean I should put the last entry to Canada, which is 2013-06-16? Just so you know, I only went to my country for 2 weeks for vacation..

No, pardon my english, what I'm trying to say is put in the date when you first came to Canada and stayed here.
Apart from vacations outside of Canada, like when did you come here and stayed, like moved in and stuff.
