Questions on Applying for Permanent Resident from USA

AINP will give you PR. The difference between a federal skilled worker application to get PR and an AINP application to get PR is that the first is a federal thing and the 2nd is a provincial thing. The PR you gain is the same. AINP makes you sign a statement that you are planning to settle in AB and I would say it's wise to land there and stay at least a couple of months to avoid possible problems but after that, you can go anywhere in Canada and do anything you want as long as it is within the law.

Hello Leon,

Thanks a lot for your such a great help and time. I read instructions for AINP program, they stated that you should have minimum 12 months of experience in US on H1B but i do have 11 months of experience in US (including the time to get the SSN), will it be problem if i apply for it now? Also, the my current job title (PROGRAMMER ANALYST) does not explain much about my profile, what do you suggest me to make them better understand about my job category?

Also in the form in the Residential address field do i need to mention my Resident address in US or address mentioned on my passport (from India)?

Please suggest.

Write your US address because that is where you live right now. If your job duties fit the NOC description for 2171 Information Systems Analysts and Consultants and that is the NOC code you plan to apply under, write something explaning that your job duties match that NOC even though your title doesn't. If you need a month to apply, you don't meet the requirements right now so you should wait 1 month.

Leon, i really appreciate your help from the front. It has been really useful for me. I will have to say this forum is great!!!

After having such a good consultation from you i really feel like i am all set to apply for PR for Canada next month in January '09. My only concern still remains is about funds proof. I know i can show them the proof of the property if i have had, but i don't. I was wondering if they will consider if i take the personal loan of 10K USD and put it in my account. OR if you could suggest me any other better way, that would be a great help.

Also please tell me when do i need to show them this funds proof if i apply for PR somewhere in Jan'09 mid.

If it was me, I would borrow the money to put in my account. Then get a letter from your bank stating how much money you have in there. That way they don't see that you just deposited the whole amount.

Probably when you send in your documents as well as again when you "land" as PR but go ahead and read the instructions on their websites. There is a lot of information there.

you need to show CAD$10,601(check before you arrive in Canada, Immigration keeps changing this amount by small amounts), at port of entry. If you're one of those super lucky guys, the officer at POE might not even ask you that and stamp papers immediately.

yes a simple bank statement(original) showing that or more balance is fine.

I have concern here, if i apply for PR and everything goes fine then is it fine to change my employer by transferring my H1B. Does the H1B transfer will creates any problem after applying for PR? Please suggest.

So I am confused because some people say that It is not completed link for information and some say that is correct. As well as, I hope you give me correct solution.

I am writing my profile. I have complete IELTS and my scores are Listening 5.5, Reading 5, Writing 5 and Speaking 5. I have completed MCA (Computer Engineer) and my age is 26 year old. I am working as Software engineer from last 4 year. I have 4 year experience in Software. So that, I want to apply Quebec Immigration - Skilled Worker Program. Please guide me. Can I apply visa as Skilled Worker Program?
