Hi guys,

All the posts on this forum have been very helpful in our sponsorship case, which we filed on March,2011. Right now, I am extremely worried, as the visa office has sent us more forms to be filled out.

But the forms and the questions in them are making me very nervous. I sponsored my husband from Canada (while he was still living in U.A.E)...and then I came to visit him right after submitting my application. It is very hard for us to stay in two different countries, and this is the reason I decided to visit him asap.

We had chosen the visa office in Islambad,Pakistan (as my husband is a Pakistani national), but the application was automatically sent the file to the Abu-Dhabi visa office. My questions are as follows :

1) My lawyer told me that if I plan to stay here on permanent basis, I will have to provide proof that we both plan to re-establish ourselves in Canada...However, if I visit Canada after every 5-6 months, and then stay there for like a month, this condition will be wavied....What do you guys think about that? I am very worried about it, as I don't want my case to go through problems at a later stage...so plzz give me some advice on this issue.

2) I mean I can provide proof of re-establishment right now..or I can just go back to Canada every 5-6 months..., but I am a little confused, as I think the immigration authorities might still have a problem with me going in and out of Canada...what if they still ask for proof later on? (cus technically, I'd be more like a visitor in Canada instead of a resident)...but this is the advice my lawyer had given me before, soo this is why I am double minded...plzzz let me know if you guys have any advice for me in this matter.

3) On the forums, I have read that "proof of re-establishment" include things like letters from sponsor's parents(offering them a stay once they come back to Canada), job offers, university applications etc....and this is what I had in my mind all along

However, we have been asked to provide proof of residency cancellation in the Gulf, and my husband has also been asked to provide a resignation letter

Is this normal? or is our case a little suspecious to them, and this is the reason they are asking?

4) Since I don't plan to stay in U.A.E for very long, I am just here on a visit visa. The visit visa has been extended a few times though....So can I give this as a "plan of re-establishment" in Canada? I mean the fact that I don't have permemnat residency visa for Gulf, and instead just a visit visa (hence, I am only visiting my husband for 9-10 months?? )

5) On the e-mail we were sent, it was written in bold "only the principal applicant should fill out".....I am nervous about this, as they have only bolded this statement. I had filled out all the forms (even my husband's PR forms) before...but he was the one who had signed.

But we had worked on them togeather..I was just the one to write down the answers.

So do you guys think its a problem??

I am worried, because two of my friends have sponoserd their husbands to Canada from U.A.E (and they both came to live with their husbands while their case was being processed)..However, they were never asked to provide such details, or fill out any forms during the process.

Plzz give me any advice you guys have!

Thanks a million!!! :)

Just answer all the questions the visa officer asked, and fill out all the forms required. Who actually types the answers doesn't matter, as long as the answers on the applicant's forms are from the applicant's perspective.
You can try to maintain the semblance of residency in Canada by returning every 5 or 6 months, but keep in mind the visa officer can still decide you are actually living in the UAE, and request proof you will be returning to live in Canada. The fact you only have a visitor visa for the UAE is one aspect of this proof. Try to get more. Showing you and your spouse will definitely be leaving the UAE is also a way to prove you will return to live in Canada. That is why they asked for proof you and he are ending your residency there. It is common for the VOs in the Gulf to ask for proof of residency cancellation and resignation from a job, so don't worry about that.

Thanks alot!!! :) I was worried, because of they way they had bolded the statement that only the principal applicant can provide the answers.

I have the same feelings about showing proof of re-establishment in Canada, as I think they will still ask me for proof even if I keep going in and out of Canada. I mean its obvious that I am visiting Canada every 4-5 months, but my permenant residency is in U.A.E

but do you guys have any advice regarding the proof of re-establishment? I am applying to different universities right now (so I can show them that we plan to come back)..but I have not gotten any acceptance yet...so is this proof good enough? I mean merely showing them the applications (a copy of the university's website, and where I have applied), or do I have to show acceptance to a university?

I can also show them the e-mails I sent to various universities.

2) They have asked us to provide the "date we will cancel our residency visa for Gulf"....how am I suppose to provide that?

I mean we will only cancel our visas once my husband's case is approved. So should I write a tentative date ? (based on the estimation of the time it will take for our case to be processed) ???

or should I write "we will cancel it whenever our case is approaved" ??

Please help me if anyone has any ideas.

Thank again! :)

Show proof that you applied to various universities - your emails are better than just listing the universities' websites. You can also detail your plans for getting a place to live - if a family member or friend is going to let you stay in their place while you get settled, get an affidavit from them.

I would write in a tentative date, and then explain in an attached note that it is a tentative date, because you don't know for sure yet when your husband will get his PR visa.

Thanks guyss :D I am a Canadian citizen, and I have spent almost all of my life in Canada..but now its too hard for me and my husband to live separately..this is the reason I came to U.A.E right after applying.

1) The problem with university applications is that I got a refusal from most of them....I mean the ones I applied before..they were all very good programs

So do you guys think it is a good idea to take admission in a certificate program? or a college program that lasts only a few months? as I just need it to prove that I will be coming back...otherwise, we have a family business and I take care of that

2) Secondly, I was thinking of getting a letter from my parents..but the visa office has mentioned that we need a "solid" proof.

So will the letters be any help?

3) If I have to give letters, should they be certified by someone? or can I just give typed letters from my parents?

Thank you once again!
:) :)

I meant to ask, is it neccessary to get admission in the universities? or can I just show that I applied, but got a refusal? It will be no help that way :S :S soo I am really confuseddd

I was thinking of a short term certificate program, as I know I will probably get admission in it easily (instead of a masters)....but do you guys think its a good idea??

Showing refusal letters at least shows you tried to get in. An acceptance letter from any sort of program is good proof, even if the course is short. I would send both types of proof. An affidavit is considered better proof than a letter, so I would get your parents' letter in the form of an affidavit. Proof you will be working at your family's business is also good.
