Hi All,
I'm waiting for my PR in Canada with an open work permit. I work full-time.
I'd like to apply a visitor visa for my mom. She lives in China.
Instead of applying upon the consulate of Canada in China, can I apply for her online directly?
Thanks

Hi!

Yes, you can apply online and help her to fill and upload all the forms, but you will need to put China as a country where applying, in the online survey and also in the application form itself. Formally in this case you also have to mention that you have are doing that on behalf of your mother (there are a few questions like that in the survey and the application form ), but usually people does not bother to do that, because a signature is digital anyway.

Thanks a lot. But the online application will be processed in Canada or in China?

I am not quite sure where exactly online applications are being processed. As I can see, there is a big confusion about it. Most likely it should be in China. Anyway i assume online is faster than paper if the application's package complete and prepared thoroughly. I got my visitor visa in 4 business days even though the processing times for my country are more than 1.5 months. I applied on 6 December 2013.

If you are applying for just the visitor's visa, it can be processed in Canada, if you are planning to apply for the super visa, it will be processed in your parents' country of residence.

Thanks for your information. I hope it would be processed in Canada. Because I applied once for my mom in Shanghai,China, 2012 and it was rejected.

Honestly, it does not matter that she have got one rejection in China. It will not affect the application at all. The only thing, which is matter - if the situation is improved. Prepare documents properly and apply. Did you try to order CAIPS after rejection? That could help to learn the real reasons of the previous rejection.

Hi all,

I find this above information very useful but I have an additional question:

I am curious to know if I can submit online application for TRV on behalf of my mother. My mother is not in Canada but I am. I have MiCIC account and it says that no one except me can apply by this account. All applications should go by my mother's name and signature also. So it is like confusing that from my account goes an information with my mother name. Do you think "representative form" from my mother will be legal/enough to apply online from my account on behalf of my mother.

Just to be more clear:

should I open a new account on CIC for my mother also or she can submit her application with her online signature directly from my CIC account? Does she need to submit "Representative form" for this process?

Thank you so much for answers/help.

If she is applying for visa, then she needs to have her own MYCIC account not you. You can help her uploading all the forms and use your Credit card to pay but she has to sign in and submit the application by herself, same thing I did, uploaded all documents and did everything, just told my mother to go and Login to her MYCIC account and submit the App. and used my CC for payment. hope it helps.
