Hello,

I've been accepted to a post secondary program in Canada and I am applying for a study permit(I live in Turkey). My program is 2 years in length, but I have to complete a 1 year English preparation program to start the program (It is a conditional acceptance)

In this case;
  • What should I write for the start and end dates in Application form? Should I write the beginning of English program and the end date of the college program? Plus, I want to enter Canada a few weeks earlier. Should I write an earlier start date or is it okay if I go there 2-3 weeks earlier?
  • Regarding the financial documents, I am providing a bank statement that would be quite enough for my first year. Other than that, I also own a house and a car in my country, should I provide the property deeds as well with my application?
  • Do I need to provide my high school diploma and transcriptions?

Thanks for the help.

When I fill out apps for students I usually add 2 weeks to the start date at least to allow for time to find a place of residence, and I always add 4 weeks on to the last date of term since most students will not be able to get Grad Certs or Transcripts until a minimum of a month from finishing classes.

So I would say yes to a start date 2-3 weeks from the beginning of the English Program and at least 4 weeks from the end of the Post Secondary Program. If however your acceptance to Post Secon is conditional CIC may just give you a SP to the end date of that program. This happens a lot with the students I work with.

A bank statement will be fine, but it is always handy to have the back up documents which prove you are going to return home, so it may be a good idea to include copies.

No you won't need to provide your highschool diploma and transcripts but you may well require the originals if you haven't already done so to the Post Second program.

Hope that helps
