Questions About Quebec Parent Sponsorship Documents

Hi everyone,

I’m in the process of applying for Quebec parent sponsorship and I have a couple of questions I hope someone can help with:

1. My parent is unable to get their birth certificate from their home country—it’s just not available. Does anyone know if there’s an alternative document that can be submitted in place of a birth certificate?

2. Regarding the document copy requirement: If the instructions say to provide a “copy,” does that mean my parent can scan and send me a document, and then I just print it out to submit? Or do the documents need to be original?

Your post is a bit confusing given parent sponsorship is not open at this time.

@scylla I have received a letter from the IRCC confirming my eligibility to be a sponsor and was asked to continue the steps with the Gouvernement du Québec now. This was a couple of months ago, but couldn’t fill it out before. You mean after the recent changes, this is not open now anymore?

The PGP program has been closed since 2020. IRCC has been selecting applications from the 2020 EOI for the past few years.
