Hi everyone,
I’m new here and I just wanted to ask few questions.
Before I ask my questions, let me tell you about my condition and what I’m planning to do:
I’m a mechanical engineer with 2 years’ experience in the Gulf States(middle east) and currently planning to pursue a master degree in mechanical engineering from Canada.
My father also works in the gulf and he’s going to retire and travel back home this year.
My plan is to start my first semester in fall 2020, I'll have plenty of time to prepare my documents properly and study for my IELTS exam.
According to my calculation, a two year master's programme + living expenses would cost an average of 55,000 CAD, and 30,000 CAD for the first year (tuition+living).
Also, I’m going to leave my work in March and go back to my home country. I’ll have around 19,000 CAD of savings in my bank account when I leave my work. My father is going to help me with the remaining money (around 36,000 CAD).
My goal is to not show my sponsor in my application because that would require extra documents and he maybe at that time wouldn't be able to provide them. So I’ll have to open a bank account with my name in my home country and deposit my savings(currently in the gulf) + my father’s money. When I apply for the study permit I’ll be able to produce a bank statement for 4/6 months that shows enough funds with my name.
My questions are like this:
1. Do I need to provide any source of funds documents to the IRCC? Or proof of funds is just enough?
2. If my bank statement for 4/6 months shows enough funds for my study programme, does the IRCC still need my sponsor’s bank statement + source of funds? Even though he would deposit his money in my account 6 months before I apply for the study permit.
3. I’m planning to open a USD bank account in my home country, does the IRCC accept proof of funds in foreign currency?
I ask these questions because people around me keep telling me different things, so I wanted to be sure and ask people with real knowledge.
Thank you in advance, and sorry if my English is not that perfect.
