For our common law application we plan 3 envelopes, 1. sponsor forms 2. applicant forms. 3 genuine proof, photos and everything else
My questions are
1. for sections in forms where they ask to explain on a separate sheet of paper if needed. Would you include these extra sheets with the application forms or in the separate 3rd envelopes with all the proof etc?
2. For love story, would the sponsor attach it to his application form and applicant attach hers with her application form?

or does it matter?

The extra sheets should go with the form the questions are from. They should be labeled with the name and number of the form, and the question you are answering.

The love story is the last part of both the Sponsor Questionnaire and the Sponsored Spouse Partner Questionnaire. I would have the sponsor attach his to the sponsor's questionnaire, and the applicant attach hers to the Sponsored Spouse Partner Questionnaire.

thanks that sounds good.. by putting the letters and extra sheets with application form seems better chance they will read what you have to say compared to if was additional proof all mixed in with the rest of the evidence. i think

something else we not sure about... if my sponsor attaches his love story to his sponsor application, will it also be sent and seen in Manila with the AOR2? Or does his application and everything he includes with it stay in Canada?

We organized everything similar to you.

We put the sponsor's letter with her form, and my letter with my form. Since the IMM 5490 (Sponsored Spouse/Partner questionnaire) asks for photos of the relationship/wedding/reception/honeymoon, etc., we also copied our photos into MS Word (with captions describing who, what, when, and where), printed them 2-3 to a page on plain paper, and attached them to the IMM 5490 as appropriate.

Then we also put a copy of all these letters and photo pages into our "Proof of Genuine Relationship" envelope. That way, everything (including my wife's letter) also goes to Ottawa VO even if her sponsor app doesn't.

We did our application similar

Envelope 1 = Sponsor Application Forms
Envelope 2 = Principle Applicant Forms
Envelope 3 = Supporting Documents

For our photos of the Engagement,Wedding and Dates we went on, we included these in the envelope #2 because the questions about wedding photos are in this application. I know this is common law but this is just an example to show you how we labeled our extra pages.

We went on word pad, Wrote the question # what it says, then added a little write up to describe the necessary info.

IMM5490E - Sponsorship Questionaire
Question #6 Describe how your relationship developed after your first contact/meeting and if you and your sponsors went on any dates, outings or trips together. Provide photos and documentary evidence.

" Write up of how your relationship developed, and you can copy and paste photos to WordPad adding a caption about each photo below it"

We found it easier to add the photos on WordPad with the exact information rather than attaching loose photos that may get mixed up.

We attached any extra information pages to the back of each IMM paper with paperclips. So while they read each IMM paper they knew exactly where each extra page belonged.

As for envelope #3, we used that for our extra translated documents like birth certificates, notarized letters, facebook chat logs we had copied and any extra proof, love letters describing why we are together and why we love each other. Basically, the extras. Our envelope 3 had no pictures in it because we attached them to the exact paper that asked about photos.

Hope that helps! :)

His application and everything he includes is sent with the rest of the application to Manila.

Thanks for the replies, very helpful for sure and good to know all gets sent to Manila so they will see all. I don't think we will make duplicate copies then.. ie a copy of all the same photos for each the sponsor and me applicant but decided we will put just some photos to go with extra pages like "development of relationship" where it says to submit photos. Our photos too on plain paper, 4 per sheet and done in date order. So for development of relationship we put one sheet of photos for each month from beginning to current date.
then the rest of the photos in the third envelope. Is it true that what you submit extra with the application forms will be paid attention to more?
