Hello dear members,

I am a dual citizen, naturalized Canadaian (Not by birth)/ I recently got a job offer in UAE, which is kind of hard to deny. I will be traveling as a Canadian, now I want to ask about losing my Canadian citizenship due to not returning to Canada for extended periods of time, we are talking may be 2 - 3 years, and when I come back I plan to come back for like a month before moving back over to the UAE for my job?

I checked the CRA but it is a bit confusing with the whole resident and non resident thing so I thought to ask those who have experience with the matter.

I know that I have to inform CRA about me moving abroad and working abroad. I will have no assets in Canada. Not sure about what to do with my mail address in Canada, I mean I can use a friend's address but not sure how all of this goes, so if anybody moved before if they can give me some insight on how to do all of this without losing my Canadian citizenship would be appreciated.

You can't lose your Canadian Citizenship no matter how long you are out of the country unless you willingly give it up formally through a process that takes time. You can only lose your permanent residence status by staying out of the Country but not your Citizenship. Just take your passport with you and renew it when due. Enjoy the UAE and your new job.
