Questions about applying for Sponsoring Parents for immigration

Hi Everyone,

My wife and I are starting the process for applying for sponsorship to bring over her parents. So a few bits of information.

1. I am a Canadian Born Citizen.
2. She is a Chinese Citizen with her Permanent Residency (She applied through the Canadian Experience Class).
3. We are hoping to bring her parents over.

So I'm sure we'll have lots of questions along the way, so I'll start with the questions I have now and I'll post new ones as they come along.

1. For the income requirement, does it only count Taxable Income? I'm a PhD student with both a Federal and Provincial Scholarship, so my Stipend is paid out as scholarship and is non Taxable, so it will show up on my T4A and not my T4. My wife has been working since 2011 and so has a normal T4 slips

2. We are trying for a baby, but are not pregnant yet. Do we inform CIC about the increase in family count when the child is born?

3. For the income requirement, are they looking at Net Income (After taxes etc) or Gross Income (Before taxes and deductions etc)?

THanks!

1. Taxable income.
2. Yes, you should notify CIC once your child is born.
3. Gross income.

Note that if you haven't already submitted your application you're likely too late for 2015 and will have to wait until 2016. Make sure you are ready to submit the application Jan 1.

So just to confirm... if my income for the year is from scholarships, which is non-taxable income, then this would not be considered income that would fulfill the requirements to sponsor family members?
