Hi all,
Right now I am desperately trying to find answers regarding my application sent in march 2020 and have no updates since AOR in November 2020. Is there any way to reach the officer assigned to my file. When I call the IRCc I dont think the messages are being sent to officer assigned to my file.

There is no way for you to contact the officer assigned to your file directly.

What do your GCMS notes say?

If you're desperately trying to find answers, it's useful to include relevant information (like the fact you already contacted your MP - even if you did get a stupid answer). No-one here can read your mind.

Try the MP's office again. Or try a different MP, like immigration critic from other party, or minister's office. Keep trying.

applied for the outland sponsorship while my wife was in the UK. The application was received on march 19 2020, but I, the sponsor, got the acknowledgement of receipt on november 2020 ( i thought it was the applicant that received the acknowledgement of receipt). They never gave us a file number,I had to call multiple times to even receive this.My wife arrived in canada as a visitor in august 2020 and we are still living together (keep renewing the visitor visa every 6 months). Since my wife was here, We thought we could switch the application from outland to inland so we submitted a webform. We immediately got a reply to withdraw the application and resubmit to the case processing centre inland in mississauga. We were afraid of more delays so we maintained that we wanted to keep our file as it is. Since then no news from the immigration. I kept calling them and the answer was always covid delays, this is the normal wait time. In august 2021 we get a message saying to again withdraw the application and submit it to the inland processing centre. Stressed out we again sent a webform stating we want to maintain the outland sponsorship as we didn't not want delays or confusion. Now all this was happening while I was residing in quebec. My wife and I have moved to Ottawa, Ontario as of the 1st of september 2021 for my work . I immediately notified them, send them a proof of new employment. When we call immigration we get the information that our wait time is normal. When the MP called they said we need to withdraw the application. When my wife called, they told her you have to transfer the file from outland to inland, and that it will eventually get a decision, but it won't be valid. I have yet to even get my sponsor approval. We are confused, mentally exhausted, distressed, and quite frankly feel no control in our own lives. I don't' think our file is being handled fairly from the get go. I am aware things are different because of covid, but when i hear other people who applied at the same time as i did are getting their file approved I am sure something not going right.

I ordered gcm notes only yesterday
Ah - I see. So I take it you haven't ordered GCMS notes before this. That's really what will give you detailed info about your application so good that you've put in the request now.

It's hard to say what's happened without seeing the details in the GCMS notes.

You can't transfer or change an application from outland to inland. The only way to switch from outland to inland (or the other way around) is to withdraw the first application and submit a brand new one. I'm wondering if the webform you sent last year somehow put your application on hold or somehow flagged your application where IRCC isn't actioning it until they get the formal withdrawal.

Sorry, I don't know what to say. You really need the GCMS notes.

I would keep calling the IRCC help line. Unfortunately they are far from the sharpest tools in the shed but maybe you'll hit someone eventually who is able to give you more info / assist.

So in this case I have no other choice than withdraw my application and submit inland?

I can't tell you that. I have no idea what's happening with your application. Everything I'm saying is just a guess - apart from the bit about not being able to switch an application from outland to inland. That's definitely impossible and you have to withdraw and submit a new application to change from one stream to the other.

As for the status of your application and what you should do, no idea. I wish you had ordered GCMS notes a lot earlier. But at least you've ordered them now.

Just want to add that MANY applicants of spousal/family sponsorship keep their outland application while the PA travel to Canada. They stay as visitors and keep their application as is.

Since your application has been in the system for so long, I dont' see any benefit of withdrawing and starting from scratch for an inland application.

But again, I cannot tell without the GCMS notes. I hope they haven't already withdrawn your application...

As noted, anyone here is only guessing, but this weird history where they keep saying to withdraw the application is the question.

It roughly sounds like they interpreted your request to 'switch' it as a request to hold it since you seemed to want to do so. And now the quesiton is whether it can be put back on active work (and so far your efforts haven't done so). Or frankly if they got the message but then have misplaced the file (which might be one explanation for them repeatedly saying reapply).

I'd be reluctant to start over as well but there are infrequent cases where there dont' seem to be good alternatives.

Wait and see what the gcms says, and try the mp again. Don't want to give advice but collecting your docs again in case you decide to resubmit might be a good idea.
