Hi there,

Received a letter to submit documents for my parents/brother. One thing I am unsure about my brother education since it has to be continuous therefore I want to make sure that he send me all the proper educational documents. After completing grade 12 from college he went to private institute to complete two year diploma in computer science and then he went to university for graduation. Would private institution diploma consider part of his continuous education or not? Please advise.

Thanks
SZ

Yes absolutely. Especially when you have graduation documents or transcripts etc. Any attempt to further education no matter how informal, as long as it is documented, helps to prove to CIC the timeline which they expect to be full.

Thanks J&J, the reason I asked is that I read somewhere in cic website or someone told me that only government accredited institution certification are accepted but my brother did it from private institute which is registered educational institute but not affiliated with government.

Thanks

I assume that your brother is isted as a dependent. In that case, it does not matterwhich institution he studied. as long as you have documents to prove the timeline and dependency.

Yes, he is listed as dependent. So it doesn't matter where did he completed his education whether government accrediated or not?

Thanks

Government accredited just means that it is legal in the government's eyes and complies with requirements for educational institutions. In other words, it's a safeguard to ensure it's not a school you and I set up yesterday that grants PhD's in 2 days ;)
