My wife has a PR card, she landed and received her card Nov 2013. We plan to leave and move to the US for 2 years July 2017 and Return 2019, What will happen with her renewal? Can she renew while abroad? Will her status get bumped back many years? Is the renewal process any easier if the card is expired? Any tips?

Thanks

You need to apply for pr card renewal from Canada. Now processing time is around 6 months. Also you need to provide Canada address for card delivery. How long did you stay in Canada?

Sid - Are you a Canadian Citizen? If yes, so long your wife is with you while abroad, this time counts towards PR. You could renew before you leave, or simply have your wife apply for a PRTD (PR ravel document) from the US, OR when you cross back you may explain the PR Card expiry with facts pertaining to your wife being with you whole time you were both outside Canada.
