Question Regarding Working Hours THANKS

Hi I have a question regarding working hours towards CEC. My salary of the first two months of the work were paid by cheque and taxes were not deducted. For my T4, it does not show the amount of the two months. In this case, does the two months count towards the 12-month work experience?

If I report to the CRA about the two month's pay and pay my taxes, does the two months count towards the 12-month work experience?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi,

My first three months of experience were just like yours, I counted them towards my experience and filed them in my taxes last year.
I got a letter from my company that supported these three months of works.

I think it's safe to consider them towards your 12 months of experience.

T4s are issued by employer and NOAs are issued by CRAs. If the employer didnt deduct the salary of the first two months, that means now it is your responsibility to declare and pay those taxes to CRA. Then, they will be to issue an adjusted NOA that will reflect your proper income. Combined with a letter of explanation and/or paystubs for the first two months, these can be submitted as supporting documents for your 12-month work experience.

Btw, make sure you have enough buffer for the qualifying period. Adding 2-3 weeks for contingency usually helps applicants better...

Depends - did your employer consider you to be an independent contractor for those first two months? (e.g. self-employed?). If you were self-employed for those two months, then, no, you cannot count them.

If not, and you were indeed an employee, you should discuss with your employer about getting the T4 corrected, that would make your application go more smoothly.

It's not just about deducting taxes - you can correct that on your tax return, and pay the difference. But your employer is supposed to pay certain amounts. If they did not, then it looks like you were self-employed. And your employer may not be willing to change your T4 because of this.

Hello All,

My wife has Canada work experience from second week of March 2014 till mid of Feb 2015. And it had been 40 hours per week.

While filling the EE form for Spouse work experience, it does not ask for the date. So when we give the month/year, it calculates 5 points for my Spouse's Canada work experience.

Whereas, we know that she doesn't qualify as she does not have 52 weeks. We haven't provided any incorrect information, so how to resolve this so that the points for 1 year Canadian experience is not counted?

Any inputs appreciated..

Many Thanks!

Are you the principal applicant? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. You've filled out the EE information correctly. When it comes to completing the CEC (or FSW) application, your wife's experience won't matter.
