Hi. I just got my marriage certificate translated + an affidavit for it. This cost me 400$, and they kinda "attached" the pages together.

Now, my question is, can I undo that attachment, and make copies of all these papers and send the copies? I really don't want to send the "original" documents I received, since I'd basically be saying bye bye to 400$... Can I just copy the translated certificate + affidavit as long as the writing on it is very clear and send that?

Thanks. Just worried about this.

Absolutely not. The affidavit and certified translation, need to be the originals that the translator did for you. There will most likely be a stamp or signature in ink. This can NOT be photocopied.

You can photocopy the marriage certificate itself, as long as that copy is a certified-true copy.

Well it's not really "lost" since you are using it for your application.

$400 for a single certificate translation seems excessive though. We had 3 pages translated/certified for $100 total!

Everywhere I went, at least 7 different places in Ottawa, charged me no less than that :(. IT's all good though.

The application is done, except for one thing my wife is mailing to me :). Should send it out soon :D
