Question regarding to Canadian Certificate of Identity

Hi everyone, I got my PR card May 2011 and I'm planning to travel out of country. But my country(Taiwan) does not want to renew my passport any more as i did not join the mandatory military for my country.

So, if I apply for Canadian Certificate of Identity. How long does it take? On Passport Canada website says several month, but anyone had experience how long it actually take?

Another question is, does USA accept Canadian Certificate of Identity? How many other countries accept it?

Hey yafayu,

I am looking to obtain the same document as well and planning to post my application in the two next weeks.
On passport Canada's website, they claim it would take several months, but hopefully we would get it in several weeks.
So, let's keep up on this subject and try to share some info on the application delays and on the countries accepting the
Canadian certificate of identity as a valid travel document.
