Hello everyone!

I'm so glad I found this forum to read and understand better this process.
I am currently collecting all of information for sponsoring my husband (French citizen). I am a Canadian citizen.
I just remembered today that this summer (about 6 months ago) I wrote a letter for a friend asking CIC to extend her visitors visa. She had more than one letter (including mine and two other friends) stating that we believed she would not break the law while remaining in Canada. I did not guarantee financial support of any kind and the letter was just a couple of sentences long and was not notarized. I did send my ID as confirmation of who I was (driver's license). Her visitors visa was extended until January 2017.

Would this letter be considered sponsorship? (I highly doubt it, I'm just confirming because I'm very paranoid).
Will this cause a problem for when I send the spousal application next month into CIC?

I did ask her again this week to confirm that I have no responsibility whatsoever based on this letter and she said a very big and confirmed no.... but my mom doesn't always gets the best of me haha.

Thank you very much for any information! :)

Writing a letter of invitation to someone - even if it's notarized - has nothing to do with sponsorship (as far as CIC and MIDI are concerned).

I wrote such letters to a dozen friends and/or relatives over the past 25 years. It would have no incidence whatsoever on your future family class sponsorship.

Bonne chance Madame!
