Question regarding Settlement funds

Hello,

I just went through OINP Application guide and I read this -

Bank account outside of Canada
If you do not have a personal bank account in Canada, you must provide six months of original up-to-date bank statements from a recognized financial institution. The bank statements must:
 Demonstrate a personal account standing / final balance that meets or exceeds the LICO; AND
 Include the following details:
o Your name;
o Account number;
o Transit and institution number;
o Account balance; and
o Currency.

Now, turns out I have been in Australia for last 6 years and my bank account doesn't have $12000 Equivalent but my parents have an account in my name in India which does have that much money worth of old fixed deposits.
Now, is it possible for them to send me the scans of those bank statements as if they send me original copies through post god only knows when it will reach me and in 10 days I am going to India so no point in trying that.
The OINP people are saying they need originals.

Can anyone advice something here, PLEASE

Submit your application from India after 10 days. Just the FD certificates might not suffice, you might have to get a letter from the bank as well and enclose that along with your application.

That makes sense.
My 45 day deadline ends 1st April that is if they are counting weekends ( and I guess they are )
If I manage to finish everything by 1st or 2nd March I have around a months for documents to reach them by post.
There is a small risk here but I am willing to take my chances.

My 45 day deadline ends 1st April that is if they are counting weekends ( and I guess they are )
If I manage to finish everything by 1st or 2nd March I have around a months for documents to reach them by post.
There is a small risk here but I am willing to take my chances.

Good old India Post's Speedpost service takes about 1 week to deliver from India to Canada and charges less than 1/3rd the price of private courier companies. DHL,Fedex, First Flight etc. costs a lot but they deliver to Canada in 2-4 days.

Documents reach there in 3 days by DHL..

I'll do just that. Not that I doubt the abilities of our good old postal services.
Its just that there was a major muck up when Panjab Uni sent my documents for WES. It took 1 month more. that's why I am bit concerned. But i'll look up DHL once I am there.

Are you sure that they wanted an original copy with the bank stamp??? Coz i submitted online generated bank statement from ICICI and that pretty much worked with no issues.

You are lucky. 16 days is good. Must be a record.
Some things never reach.
Sometimes, I doubt if it is my family who is lying or if the parcel has crossed over to some other dimension.

I am not sure.
Can any of the more experienced members comment on this.
My account is with HDFC. I guess I should be able to access it online if I like.

Roopakv, you mean submitted the printout of ICICI bank online statement (without any additional stamp or signature by local ICICI branch) and OINP accepted it ?. If yes, please confirm - it's a great news and would help other applicants from India.

Depends on officer accessing the file. stricter one may refuse, why to take chances...

Trust me when I say I have had issues more than once. Even I tried to track the documents for my WES application. They always showed in Delhi. Even after the assessment reached me.
There is something wrong as even my brothers have complained about parcels reaching after months.

Or maybe problem is on Australia's end....
Who knows....

Yes i have submitted the prinout of the ICICI bank online statement. I did not get any issues till date and no rejections. My province nomination is Nova Scotia. Not sure if it varies from province to province.

It does say pretty clearly that they want original. Now what does original mean makes things confusing. I guess online print outs should be as good as original but why take chance.
