Hi all,

Thanks once again for your replies on my earlier questions. I have a couple more if that's alright, I'm sorry to bother you all.

First, some background information: I'm being sponsored by my common-law partner who is a born Canadian citizen. We're going through the Spousal Sponsorship program and I'm also applying for an open work permit. I'm currently on visitor status, but before that was working here from March 2017 - March 2018 and was studying here from February 2016 - February 2017.

I'm currently also applying for an OWP (Open Work Permit), so I can work while my sponsorship application is pending. Now, on the document checklist for form IMM556E, on page 2, under "DOCUMENTS LIST (CONTINUED)" it states the following: "If you are a participant in the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, provide proof of health insurance covering the intended extensions to your lenght of stay in Canada."

My question is: Am I, someone who is being sponsored by my common-law partner and applies for an open work permit while my sponsorship application is pending, part of International Experience Canada?

Now, I've seen some replies to this question already here and here, but I'd like to ask one more time, to be sure, as those topics are already a year old, and I was wondering if anything might've changed in the meantime.

Thank you all so much once again, this forum has been a great help so far. I appreciate all your time and efforts!

So assume you are applying as an inland spouse applicant with an application for a work permit. In which case this has zero to do with the IEC program.

Unfortunately a common occurrence with various immigration forms that are multi purpose but just confuse everyone.

No. You are not part of IEC.

I see, thank you both for your answers. I greatly appreciate it! Now, this is a little off-topic, but could the same be said for an in-land visitor's visa extension? I'm planning on applying for one just in case one of my forms somehow gets send back, and I lose my implied status. I can't find anywhere where it says to also submit proof I have health insurance for the duration of my visitor's status extension.

Thank you both so much once again, I greatly appreciate the help!

There is no requirement for a visit extension to provide health insurance coverage. Editing to add: the extension is a pretty straightforward form, I'd advise going ahead and downloading the documents package for the extension and reading over it so you know what docs you need beforehand.
