Hi All,

My parents who are of age 63 and 66 are visiting canada from India for the duration of May 05 to October 25. I have collected information from ICICI Lombard as well Bajaj allianz

May i know if there are any other suggestions with better premium rates ??

ICIC Lambrod : 1,00,000 USD coverage with 100 deductible and 62,000 INR(IPD alone is cashless in network hospitals, OPD is on reimbursement basis)
Bajaj Alliance : 2,00,000 USD coverage with 100 deductible and 53,000 INR(cashless for OPD and IPD beyond 500 USD)

TAT AIG seems to be very costly.

Any one please suggest me if you have some other suggestions??

Hi,

IMO, Tata AIG is a better option for the Americas.

You can compare policies on www.policybazaar.com

Cheers

its always better to get insurance from Canadian companies..hospitals know Canadian insurance companies and bill them directly..otherwise you have to pay and apply for reimbursement.. which can be painful process..

possibly but will Canadian companies cover a medical repatriation to home country for a visitor should there ever be a requirement in worst case ?

Thanks all for the quick and prompt responses.

I am considering Indian insurances because Canadian insurances are almost double to Indian. And Indian insurance companies are offering cashless for inpatient facilities.

My confusion here is, when I checked with ICICI Lombard, through the online policy they are telling 62,000 and however one of my friends enquired in the bank branch in india, they said 32,000 for the same age and travel duration. I could not reach the bank in Indian timing.

1. Did anyone took insurance from ICICI Lombard through the branch.
2. Since Saturday is the holiday for banks and my parents traveling on May 08th(Monday), I am planning to ask them to visit bank on Monday.
3. is there any activation period(24 hours?) if we take at the branch than online??

Much appreciate your responses at the earliest.

IMO, you will get the best rates and optimum support if you interact directly with an insurance agent/agent appointed by the bank instead of an online purchase.

Banks in India no longer have weekly holidays every Saturday. They are closed only on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

The insurance policy should cover the flight dates (round-trip). An agent can prepare and email the policy to your parents in a few minutes after the premium is paid

Thanks a lot Brayanna..

Since tomorrow is not a bank holiday, I will try to reach bank tomorrow and find out the details.
