Question regarding medical

Hi there, I'm sponsoring my spouse to come to Canada from Iraq. On the immigration checklist it says they need the sponsored person's medical. My spouse went to the doctor in Iraq and the doctor told him he would send the medical papers to immigration here in Canada. I thought my spouse would be given the medical papers by the doctor so that way he could fax them to me and I would send it in with the application.

Is the correct process? That the doctor sends the medical papers? I'm asking because I've read that its a bad idea to send the medical papers after you've sent in the application which is why I wanted to put the medical with all the papers and send them in. But how can I do that if the doctor sends in the medical. And how can the doctor send in the medical when we don't have a file with immigration yet because I haven't sent in the application.

I guess what I'm asking is:

1) Is it normal for the doctor to send the medical? Or is the doctor in Iraq unclear about the process?
2) Should I go ahead and send in my application?
3) What happens if the medical reaches immigration before they get our application?

Thank you. I really appreciate any help.

Hi,

It is common for the panel doctor to send medical results directly but he has to give your husband some receipt like paper inwhich his photo and passport number and other details will be there. You have to send original of that paper along with application.

Medicals are online notes by doctor to the application. Embassy and doctor would be able to view it online only.No need to worry about it.

The medical results don't get to CIC unless CIC asks for them :)

After the medical exam, the doctor gives the applicant a proof of the exam, with a barcode and a serial number - a form that you have to include in original in the application. That is all you have to send in - the official and original proof that your spouse did the exam. You or your spouse will never see the results of the exam - when your spouse went to the doctor he/she signed a paper stating that the results are the property of the Government of Canada. The panel doctor will see the results and, in a period of 2 weeks, will ask your spouse to do additional tests if necessary. If not, your spouse will never hear from the doctor again and, after those 2 weeks, the results, that are identified with that barcode and serial number that you had on the form, are sent to the Regional Medical Office. The RMO is the one that interpret them and attach their conclusions to the file. When CIC starts processing your application they ask the RMO to send them the medical information.

So, in conclusion: get the form your spouse got when he/she did the exam, put it in the file and send in your application :)
