Hello,

I had applied under the FSW stream in EE in April'16 and received my PPR in Oct. Have submitted my passport and I'm currently waiting for the stamped passport along with CoPR.

Now the thing is, I'm in a long term relationship with my girlfriend. I would be moving to Canada in December. I plan to get my PR Card and then come back and marry her.

Then I'd apply for a tourist visa/ work permit for her and simultaneously sponsor her PR so she can come with me to Canada as soon as possible.

Is there any way in which I can get her to Canada much quicker or an easier fashion as this way is going to take up considerable time.

Thank you in anticipation.

You should have added her with your PR application as common law. Then she would be getting her PR at the same time. Right now you have to sponsor her I guess. Although I think you have to wait a while before you can sponsor someone. Isn't it 5 years?

No - not true. He can sponsor her immediately provided he gets married after he lands in Canada and becomes a PR. If they get married before or if they are already common law - then he has to add her to his application now.

For the five year thing - you are confusing various immigration rules.

I hadn't gotten her education credentials done. She hasn't written IELTS either. If I'd added her to my application, it would had brought my points down making me ineligible for the ITA.

So I decided against adding her.

But you declared her in the application if you have been living together for at least a year and she went through the medical / PCC process - yes?

thts not right at all.

once your file your EAPR your points are frozen in time.

i got married after i applied for my PR application in november and got married in december and then i didnt had to get ECA for my wife nor ielts i just had to fill some forms , PCC and medical for her and it was done we both got PR together now.

i think you can even do that now as you have not landed.

you can get married and you will have to fill in some extra forms no need for ECA or IELTS for your wife. just PCC and medicals and application fees.

give a call to CIC call center and tell them you are going to get married now and whts the process to add your wife , or send an email to your VO.

ths is the best way ....if you go to canada and then apply for her sponsorship....they will first asses you as a sponsor and then you will sponsor her its together a years process.

hope this helps

We've not been living together so I hadn't declared her in my application. She hasn't gone through the medical/PCC process.

Once you file your eAPR your points are frozen. Yes. But once you apply for a change in status, your points are recalculated. You had a PNP on your side, so the additional 600 points meant you could fiddle with your application in any which way. Unfortunately, for me, I had a score of 479 and addition of an accompanying spouse would mean that my score goes below the ITA threshold making my application ineligible.

I wasn't married to her, nor had we been living together. I have not misrepresented anything so far nor am I going to do so. It's just that a long distance relationship would be a daunting task for the both of us. So I want her to move to Canada as soon as possible.

The best way to move forward in your situation is to marry your girlfriend before you land in Canada. You then notify CIC of a change in your family composition and you can add your wife to your application. In this case, your points will not be recalculated.

If you are not prepared to marry her before you land, your only options are family sponsorship or her applying independently for PR.
I can get court married to her before I land in Canada. I'm just worried that it doesn't create unnecessary problems for our Permanent Residence status.

Can you give a rundown of the whole process I will have to follow if I marry her before landing.

You have been misinformee my friend.

Your points are recalculated before your submit your eapr.

After you submit and then get married or have a child it will not effect your application at all.

You still have a chance to get married and add your wife to your application

It will be 2 to 3 months process but will be done.

And having a pnp or not doesnt natter as i said no matter what you do after you file your eapr it doesnt effect your application
